Being Fired Really

Being Fired

Last night I had a phone call from a friend in Arizona whom I have known for about 10 years or maybe a little longer. She has been working for the last three years as a customer service rep. Anyway she was told she was fired because of two compaints against her this past week. She said she was just plain tired of people not listening to her and acting like they knew more than she did when they didn't know anything. In the time I have known her she has been fired from 4 different jobs and it never seems to bother her. She always seems to be able to find another job pretty quickly.

Hmm bossy much? lolz It seems she has acquired a track record. But who knows if it was a fault of hers or if it is just a crap work environment. Good for her if she does not put up with it. And she is blessed she has been able to find work so quickly afterwards. Most unusual to get fired 4 times in a row lolz

@TiarasOceanView She can be really bossy and loud and I imagine this is what happened. She does have a track record of being fired from different jobs. I doubt if it was her work environment but I will give her the benefit of the doubt.

Customer service might be a bit taxing. But I'm pretty good at dealing with angry or frustrated people. Is your friend a little on the testy side? Four times in 10 years seems like a lot.

@TheHorse You are right as I was on the phone this morning about a bill that I know was way to high and the customer service fellow was really nice and they are going to give me most of the money back as for some reason they charged me too much on what I had asked for.

@Marcyaz I'd think the idea Customer Service person would be non-testy, and good at explaining things.

You would think they give a warning though and have a talk with her. Then if it happens more than once I can see why they would fire her. But like you said i'm sure she will find a job quickly. Sooner or later it's going to be hard to find a good paying job with how many times she got fired.

@Blondie2222 She doesn't seem to be worried about finding another job.

There is always a high churn of employees in customer service, its too bad that she was let go. Where I work they walked someone out that sits near me yesterday, but she had it coming as she had poor attendance.

@Juliaacv Knowing Jill she will find another job with a week or two like she always has. I do know she never had any problem with her attendance.

That is good if she can find better job soon, but job hunting is a not easy thing. Sometimes she can get job soon, but how can we say about it's salary or another sides? So I think if she try to do a job for a long time, she can be permanent and get more income with incentives.

@hiru84 It has never seemed to be her style to stay to long at one job. Some people just do not like staying to long at one job and so they go on to others. At times I have thought maybe she does things that make them fire her but I don't know this it just seems to be that way.

I do agree that customers can be really annoying at times but even so, if you're working for a company you have to try and keep your cool because if you snap, then it's not only you who will get a bad name but the whole company. So I somewhat feel bad for your friend getting fired but then again, I don't know her or how the conversations she had with her customers went. But either way, she is a lucky woman for finding another job so easily. Do you know why she was fired from her other jobs?

@VivaLaDani13 The same reason for being unkind to some customers and she is known for her sharp tongue.

I think there are just personalities that's not suitable to be employees or work that require you to attend to other people. Maybe she should put up her own small little, hire a few workers and teach them how things should be done ( just suggesting what's in my mind)

It's good that some people only get a job "because it's how they earn money" (rather than 'to make sure the system runs smoothly')---because employers-in-control need task-jobbers sometimes.

They had to have been pretty serious complaints if she was terminated for them that quickly. Either that or she was on a final warning, which means it wasn't those specific complaints but an ongoing issue. Oh, well. I think we've all known a person like that at some point in our lives... I used to feel very similar to the way she does several years ago... thankfully I grew out of that phase.
