Music is known to be the most sublime of all arts. This non-verbal language of music holds universal appeal. The way we appreciate music can have a powerful impact on our lives. Listening to music, can set the mood and bridge the gap between various cultures. Music can empower you, entice you, invigorate you, relax you and even set your ‘free’ from pain or sorrow. Did you know that music therapy is practiced in some leading hospitals? Research studies indicate that music can serve as a natural tranquilizer having a soothing and healing effect on patients. Music has often been referred to as “food for love.” Listening to the right kind of music has been known to turn ‘Strangers in the night’ into ‘lovers at first sight.’ Listening to certain variety of music at the right time can be a real ‘picker-up.’ It can transmit sense of ‘harmony’ in the brain. It was found that playing some energizing music of Mozart has effectively impacted students learning process and improved their academic performance. Has music enriched your life in any way? Did you know that playing music in the dairy can actually improve the milk yield of cows?

@Auntylou I think it's more classical than pop!

@jabo Wow! Well, I now recall having read something like that regarding the cows. I believe even plants are sensitive to music.

Of course music is therapeutic! Isn't that the reason they always play it in doctors' waiting rooms?

Music has enriched my life in every way. I have a number of friends I met because we were both fans of the same band. I chose my major because of music. I'm writing a book because of music. I put 184,000 miles on my last car because of music. I would be a completely different person without music.

I enjoy both playing and listening to music. But the so-called "Mozart Effect" has been called into question. Where did you read about that?

@thehorse Its nice to know that you play music too. Regarding the :Mozart effect" I recall having read it in one of the Academic Journals. Of course, Mozart was purely an example given; it could be classical music from any other composer as well like Bach or Beethoven.

@DRADITISINGH I loved the clarinet when I was a teen and took lessons, but I never really learned how to read music and I was bad at practicing
