Favorite Types Of Music

I was wondering here about what other people’s favorite types of music are. As for me, I am really into heavy metal, hard rock, rock, etc… I also like some mainstream music as well. I could make a list of rock bands that I like a lot but that would take up most of this post. So I will not bother doing that. Well, maybe just a few. Okay, I will list a few. LOL. I am a major fan of KISS. My all time favorite band. I like and grew up with bands like Queen, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Motley Crue and the list goes on. I also found some newer bands that I think are real good as well. FOr instance, I found a band over a year ago that I like very much. They are called The Black Veil Brides. I also found another band that I think is good called The Pretty Reckless. And recently, just before the holidays I found another band called The Struts. They take me back to the old days. Good fun rock and roll music. Now I also like some other types as well. Like Creed, Madonna, Bruno Mars and even Pink. And some old time disco and some new current music as well. And yes, punk and new wave as well as some grunge. Now that you know somewhat of the types of music I like, what are yours. I know many people like music of many different genre’s. That’s cool. But for me, and I know some people will mention country music here, I am no fan of it. I guess I don’t get it. But that’s me. I hope this post is something that interests everyone. It does me. Well, duh, of course it does, I wrote it. LOL. I guess throwing some humor into the post can’t hurt. I like some sixties music and some jazz. No country for me. I don't know what it is about country music, but it does not move me.

@inertia4 So many of the singers from the 80's and 90's are turning to country to revamp their careers. Kid Rock, Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish, Aaron Lewis from Staind, Steven Tyler signed with DOT Records and even Cyndi Lauper is talking about dropping a country album in 2016.

I'm a country music fan but do like some pop. I've never been a heavy metal fan and that's probably because when my kids were teens they blasted it so loud it made me hate it LOL

LOL. Your kids understand it. My mother yelled also. She never got it and still don't. I understand. She came from the era of Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett.

I have noticed that lots of people seem to like country music. I cannot understand what it is about that music that people are drawn to. I don't get it and it don't move me at all. Strange. Well, we all have our favorites.

LOL. I really like country music. HAHA Like you couldn't guess that was coming. I will listen breifly to classical, jazz, and pop but not with lyrics. I like the old rock of the 50s,60s,and 70s. Not the era of the bands you mentioned. LOL except Pink Floyd and Lynrd Skynrd.

@inertia4 I grew up in the 80s. That was when there was a definite separation of country and rock. LOL I do like the older rock. The beat is similar to country. LOL

Who would have thought you liked country? LOL. I loved the 70's. I think that era had the best music as far as variety. There were more kinds of music that were popular all at the same time. Things did change by the 80's.

@mommaj Well, the 80's were definitely a turning point in many genres of music. Things started to separate at that point. That's why the 70's ruled. Everything was popular at the point.

Queen, now you're talking. They were awesome. I miss them really. I miss Freddie. They were also very versatile. KISS is my favorite band. And Beth became a hit by accident really. That was the b-side to Detroit Rock City back then.

Now that's what I like a wide range of styles. After all, being stuck on just one kind of music seems narrow minded.

I enjoy oldies like The Beatles, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, and love Motown (Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, The Jackson 5, Rick James, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder. I could keep naming as there are so many talented people that I have enjoyed listening to their music over the years. Also I enjoy Queen and he passed away so young truly talented and I can listen for hours. There are others like Buddy Holly that passed in a plane crash with other talented people.

There was some great music made when I was young. Too bad there isn't much these days. Although I did find a few bands that are very good. Music is truly the universal language. And that is what we should use to bring people together.

That is your style of music to listen to. Nothing wrong with that. We all cannot like the same kind of music. As long as it makes you feel good, that's all that matters.

My putting coach is a huge metal fan. As for me, the music of my soul is hillbilly, honky tonk, bluegrass, and alt-country. That doesn't stop me from having the entire London Calling album by the Clash loaded on my iPod, though. I also love the singer/songwriter era (people like John Prine, Steve Goodman, and John Hiatt). I'm not much on "mainstream" or "commercial" rock...I really never have been, despite the fact that the Eagles were my favorite band in the 70's and my teenybopper idol was Elton John. The last band I went to see that "everybody" has heard of was R.E.M. in 1989.

Moe of a traditional kind of girl. I like that. Rock music speaks to me. Mostly. I feel it and understand it and can totally relate to it. Other types are more for enjoyment.

Depending on my mood, I'm mostly into a bit of goth, some punk, some rock, some classical ... I draw the line at manufactured 'boy bands' and R&B and rap and most popular music. I do like Eminem though. :)

I'm open to all kinds of music. I grew up in the sixties and there was a lot of great music on the radio those days, like the Beatles, the Bee Gees, the Rolling Stones, the Doors, Led Zeppelin, etc. I also like Queen, CCR, ELO, Abba, etc. I also like Italian music, Andra Celentano, Eros Ramazotti, Andrea Bocelli, etc.

I like a lot of different music also. And I do like a lot of the new music. I don't see the same barrier that was there between our parents time to ours. That was a big gap. I think the gap closed somewhat from our time to our children's time and or the current generation.
