Are men really stony hearted? I had my first miscarriage and my husband seems not to care much emotionally. I managed to pull through without any fuss. Last week he had an accident and now wants me to spend the whole day in the hospital by his bed side. I have my stuffs to attend to right away...i hope he feels the same way i felt when i needed him most. Wondering if men are less emotional than us or its just the ego thing?

I am quite emotional but in certain circumstances I take life stoically. I believe we have to endure reverses in life alone in the end. However, I was very emotional when I became a father but worries too set in soon after!
I believe women are more emotional as men tend to bottle up - siva

Most men i have met are not very emotional at all. However when I had a miscarriage my husband cried and held me in his arms. It just depends on what it is when it comes to his emotions.
I'm sorry for your loss. =(

@Carmelanirel2 Thank you. He took it almost as hard as I did. It was good to be in his arms when I found out.
Now, we have another angel on the way and we are excited that he should be here any day now!

It depends on the person. If the person was raised in tougher circomstanses and situations. I think he/she will be tougher. And when a person is soft when he/she hadnt faced much tougher conditions in their life.
In your case I think he is a bit afraid by the shock he had by the accident. It will pass

@Bestviews Yeah I think so. A person's emotion depends on the experiences and challenges he/she had to face in his/her life or atleast I think so.

A man needs to show strength in order to subconsciously show that they can protect the ones they love. Most men hide their insecurities and their pain until they are alone. Most men don't like to show people how emotional they are for fear of being called a wuss and deemed incompetent to protect in the ancient times. But I know that men are emotional and that makes them stronger to protect their loved ones. Kudos~!

@Bestviews True of course, but as a man, we do not like showing our emotions to other men most especially, but to women, men like to show their emotion in private. It's just instinct I guess since some people may think it as a weakness when its actually a symbol of strength.

Wow, I am sorry you had to go through that alone. Being a man I can't comment or pretend to know how you felt but I can tell you that my wife wouldn't go through that alone and I hope you are blessed with children in the future if that is what you want.
As far as who is more emotional, in my experience, I would think the women in my life are because I dont like to show too much (just not a crier I guess). I think its a case by case basis and can't be quantified here. I know guys who are the puppy dogs in their relationship and are extremely distraught when their girl is upset or does something wrong. I don't think we will ever know.

Some guys just hide their feelings and appear to be strong but in a long run, they sometimes breeak down and cry it all.

It is not that we do not feel it, we do! The fact that we don't show does not mean we are not emotional. And sometimes we move on quickly at first but it comes back later to haunt us like forever. Male emotions are hidden but I think they are stronger than how it is in women.

so sorry about your miscarriage - some men try not to show emotion rather than giving in to it - your husband may well feel your loss more than he shows

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I can't imagine what it would be like. Some have already mentioned what I was going to say and that is it depends on the man. Knowing my husband, if I had a miscarriage, he would be in tears, but I know other men who would be sad, but they wouldn't show it, making them look hardhearted.
