We Now Have A Fireplace

Before my brother and I got sick, he had ordered a fireplace that has a heater in it. It's not a real fireplace but looks like one and has a fire in it like a real fireplace. It was delivered while we were both sick and really came in handy with the cold temps we have had lately. It took my brother a couple of hours to put it together because he wasn't feeling well. Otherwise it would probably have taken only an hour. It looks so pretty in our living room and the fire looks so real. The heat works really well. Saturday, before we knew it, our living room was 74 degrees F which is a little too warm for us so we had to turn it off for a while. The heat is controlled separately from the fire so we could turn off the heat but still have the fire part going. Now our room feels so nice and comfy. It doesn't feel drafty anymore from the windows. This will work for us until we move into a house with a real fireplace.

They are really nice and keep a room very warm. It's the best thing we could have got except for the real thing.

Those are very nice and give off some very nice warmth. It came in handy when you and your brother weren't feeling all that well.

I had an electric fireplace once that I got Rent A Center to bring right away as our furnace was broken and it was 0 degrees outside. It worked nicely in a small space but it costs so much to run that even though I would like one, I am not sure if I would spend more on that than I do on heat and my heat is electric.

I can see how that would be very expensive. We only use it when there is a chill in the air. It wouldn't heat an entire home but our living room, dining room and kitchen are all together and open and it keeps it pretty warm.

That looks really nice, and it's good that you can have the illusion of a fire.

Just looking at flickering flames can make you feel all warm inside. There is something nice about looking at a fire in a room even if it is not an actual fire.

We mainly use our electric heat but we do use the fireplace to take the chill out of the air.

We've a similar unit, but it is smaller then the picture that you have and looks more like an old fashioned stove. They do take the dampness out of the air in a small space nicely.

Those fireplaces are so nice and the best part of it all is that you have not to clean all the mess of a real fireplace.

@ivyparkgirl A real fireplace is hard to clean, it's a lot of work.

Be careful as they can cause problems just like any electric heater can!

I have been thinking of getting one of those, how does it light. Does it work off of gas or what?

It's electric, you just plug it in. You can use it just for the flames without the heat too although we usually have the whole thing on, heat included.

We have a gas fireplace and I do like it. That is neat that you can have the fire without the heat! Here it would be expensive to have an electric one; gas is more affordable. I will always miss my wood one that we had at the previous house though.

It's a little drafty here too, around the windows. The fireplace takes care of that for us.

We finally tried to have a fire in our fireplace. The results were entertaining, but not satisfying. I wrote a post about it.
