What's For Lunch? Say What?

Today lunch serves four, my three year old granddaughter, my father, my husband and myself.
The three year old announced, she wants macaroni and cheese. Sounds simple, not. I don't like Kraft Dinner. I don't buy Kraft dinner.
I told her, I would make macaroni and cheese from scratch.
Her response was, no, no, I don't want scratch, I want macaroni and cheese.
Try explaining to a three year old (while driving down the highway) that making something from scratch, meant, not using a mix or something made ahead of time.
Her conclusion; grandpa and Opa could have scratch, because they were boys, she and grandma would have macaroni and cheese.
I give up.

I hadn't really thought about it before she asked for mac'n cheese. If i had had any idea how confused this would have become. I would have just said okay.

LOL for real. Your little one is too precious! Awww, I wonder what ingredient she thought scratch was.

I'm not sure, but she helped mix everything together. Now she can help set the table.

I'm still laughing. I had this discussion man tally written before I had arrived home. The 'from scratch' macaroni and cheese is in the oven even as I write about it.

Trying to explain something to a three year old can be complicated sometimes LOL I guess when she sees what scratch is she'll enjoy her mac & cheese. I usually keep a few of those microwaveable Kraft mac & cheese bowls handy for when scratch doesn't work for a three year old.
