I Learned Something About myLot

I know we make most of our pennies through interaction on each other's posts. However, I didn't realize there was a difference in the amount one earned in interaction. For quite a while now I've been trying to answer comments as they are posted, and as I've done so, I've seen my bank increase dramatically in which I make about $1 in 24 hours. However, yesterday I worked my notifications from the oldest forward so I wouldn't lose them because I've gotten so far behind. I realized doing so earned me a lot less because they weren't immediate interaction. Have any of you also noticed the difference in the interaction on your posts? Thanks for reading.

I haven't noticed that per say, but the newest ones might have those people online, who then interact more, but I shall try this and see how things go up. I need some dollar days

Dollar days would be nice! I had 2 this month so far. Let's see if the hypothesis works.

@Jessicalynnt It's always nice when we can add to our payout amount and the end of the month is almost here.

I' ve given up trying to figure how the payment works, I just accept it gratefully. However, do you think the discrepancy you've noticed is because the people you respond to from a few days ago are not around, or have lost interest in that discussion, so they don't come back and comment again, or 'like'.

I think that is exactly what the issue is. If we respond to older things, then the people might not be around to comment back. When we respond to recent things, there is more chance if immediate responses. The money will not show until someone interacts with what we post, which could take a few days on the older things.

@purplealabaster I'm pleased that you have confirmed that, I'm sure that must be the reason.

@jaboUK, Yes, I do think that might be the case, though I have seen answers to some of what I comment on but not to the extent of the newer discussions.

"I know we make most of our pennies through interaction on each other's posts." doesn't describe it quite accurately, it seems to me. We ourselves actually earn nothing from our own interaction. It is only when others interact with us that 'value' is added to our posts (whether it's a discussion, a response or a comment) and they therefore earn for us. In other words, every time we respond, comment on, read and like someone else's post we are telling the MyLot algorithm that that post is worth something and that that person should be paid a fraction of a cent more. Every time someone interacts with one of our posts, they are doing the same for us. Of course, if we didn't post anything, there would be nothing for anyone to give us 'value' for. It's a two-way thing which makes the giving more important than the receiving, in a way. I have found that posting a discussion which gets a reasonable amount of responses (which one can comment on and therefore continue the discussion) seems to be more profitable in terms of earning than posting responses and comments which then generate further comments BUT it is also vital to respond and comment on other people's discussions because they, in turn, are more likely to respond to ours.

@just4him Yes, I have to say that I generally do, though not always. Sometimes I have already said what I would have replied and at other times my brain is just dull and I seem to have nothing to say. I think that most of us experience that and, if someone doesn't reply to my responses, it doesn't bother me too much. I just move on to the next.

@owlwings I have responded to several of your discussions, and you haven't commented back. It doesn't bother me, though, because at least if you are not commenting back, then you are not putting me in detention.

Your earnings might have been down at that particular time, because nobody was around to interact with those comments/responses. I have noticed that there will be days when I am not on myLot and yet I will earn several cents ... not just a fraction of a cent but actual pennies. That is from people interacting with things that I had already posted days before.

@just4him That is one of the great things about this site ... not only can we interact with people from all over the world but also we can do it on our schedule and still get most of the benefits of "real time" interaction.

Yesterday (26th) my money was down, way down compared to the two preceding days. But there was also one curious event that happened - several interactions were lost during the course of the day. I don't know how that happened. I prefer to manage my notifications from the bottom as well, but old ones kept reappearing while I was working through the list. I wonder if MyLot met the Twilight zone yesterday.

@just4him As I respond to each notification I delete it, just some of them were popping back on yesterday. I think the site had problems.

It does sound like it. You could also have gotten ones that were hitting the seven day limit on notifications. That's when they drop off your list.

@pgiblett Sounds like it. You might want to check them as someone might have given another comment. I've found that many times when I've deleted a comment and see it again in notifications.

I know the more interaction with one another, the faster both members earn. This is why when I come across someone who doesn't interact with me, I tend to stay away from, because I find it a waste of my time to comment only for that comment to die out, especially when I leave the comment open for a reply.

@just4him Well, not just your post, but posts you comment on. Like I am doing here, this activity should increase my earnings because I am interacting with you, whether it is my post or yours. But, even on my own posts, some only comment once and never return, even if I leave an open comment back.

I thought it would be by the post and depending on how good is the comment will determine how much we get for the post, until I realized that it was from someone or the post started to reply the the comment. I started a discussion about something and I got response and I got something out of it but I didn't know it was from people replying back lol

When you create a post, and someone interacts with what you've written, your bank will increase. Just writing a post will not increase your bank. There must be interaction, and the more interaction on a post, the more your bank will increase.

I always find I do better financially if I get back to people asap. That encourages those like me who want the instant back and forth. That's why when I do occasionally post my own discussion I do it when I've the time to get back to responders almost instantly.

@Mike197602 It is nice that we can all use it in our own way, because what works for one person might not work for another. I admit that I also like the "instant gratification". I am much more active on here when you guys are on responding back to me almost right away. I have a lot more fun, although I do still have fun reading the comments that I miss while I am away.

@purplealabaster I must admit I do like the instant back and forth...especially on my own discussions. When I start one I've normally more time than most people on here to get back to people quickly as I'm not doing other things. I've learned to be a bit more patient lately as some people put up a discussion and don't get back to people for a few days...but they DO get back to people which is important. One thing I like about mylot is that, apart from the guidelines, we can all use the site in our own way.
