Struggling to find discussions to comment on

I realise how absurd this must sound when so many members are producing discussions daily which span a large variety of topics, but it is strangely true.
As a rule I either try to add a worthwhile comment that will enhance the discussion, or as an alternative make some jovial or humorous comment. I have a vast range of experience and understanding, so I can usually relate to most subjects. Naturally there are some that are simply not suitable for me, such as knitting or a genre of music that I dislike. However, this only eliminates a small minority of discussions.
Recently I appear to have encountered a myriad of discussions to which I have absolutely nothing to add, which has reached the point that my interaction with other members has fallen drastically.
It seems likely that I am the fault and just struggling to relate, but it is so unusual for me to experience this. After I have been out I must try to make a more concerted effort and hopefully get back into the routine.

I can understand what you mean. There are times when I can find a myriad of discussions to respond to and others when I can't find anything worth my while. No fault to the discussions starters, but just sort out of the grind of things.

@Asylum In those situations I leave a like or try to correspond with them on another person's discussion as well. I know it doesn't necessarily help them but it lets them see that I am trying to return the favor.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That seems fair enough because it does at least demonstrate the interest in trying to interact.

There are days where I find nothing interesting here, and others where all discussions are interesting. It is a question of mood, and I think that it would be useless to struggle to give a response, it is not like a job that you have to finish without fail if you have accepted to do it...

That's where I am failing. I am finding it difficult to get back into the swing of commenting and interacting. I am working on trying to devote a specific amount of time per day to each task I have and to my online sites. I hope I get more enthusiastic.

I have sometimes found the same thing and have had to resort to looking at what the people I am following are commenting on. I've found some good things that I had missed that way. (I'm sorry that I haven't been able to entice you to comment on any of my posts lately)

I am finding the same thing. It is sad too, but there are enough out there that I am just not interested in responding to, as I have nothing to say about it. I do find some thoough, but just not enough to keep me going all day. I love responiding to discussions, and I wish there were more that I was interested in, like this one. I know I will find some, as I just have to look for them.

I have this problem sometimes as well. When that happens, I usually just stalk a few people and see where they are and what they are commenting on. Then, if I can't find much, I will actually do my offline chores.

@purplealabaster I usually follow you and yes I found this discussion because of your activity... I can't do much interaction at the moment because I read that you'll be away for some time

I find some days I struggle to find something to add as well. It just depends on the day and I think its totally normal.

Your profile picture of an animated cartoon stone age man enticed me into responding to your post. Not because I could relate to what you were saying.

@Ladypeace I usually stick to animations, although I have also created a few static avatars for various occasions.

@Asylum If you change it okay, just make sure it's animated.

What you have pointed out is very true. Many a times I also do not find discussions which I could relate to or I could respond. I do not feel like responding for the sake of responding. I am unable to find a suitable answer to the question why we are not able to find quality discussions to respond to.
PS - you could check my latest discussion.

@purplealabaster The habit of not replying to comments seems very pointless. Not only does this contradict the idea of a discussion, but replying can elicit further interaction.

I see quite a few people that start discussions (some of them are even potentially very good discussions), but then they never comment back to any of the responders. When I have time, I am going to have to find some of them and start commenting back to people.

It's true some suggestions go viral and they keep growing -- without end.

@vickyblogs That is a certainty because earnings are related to the amount of interaction created.
