It's the Little Things

A year ago I was on the west coast attending a quilting retreat. Four days of sewing, laughing, sewing, getting to know each other, sewing..... During those days in Oregon, my daughter and I mixed a in a little exploring (we both waded into the Pacific), as well as some geocaching. The first day we walked to the grocery store. You would have thought we were both small children, the amount of concern the other ladies had for us. One of the women at the retreat had travelled from Dubai, to attend. She brought a small gift for each of us. A lovely little ceramic camel. The retreat ended Saturday afternoon. (My quilt front was almost finished!) There were a lot of hugs. A few of us spent one final night at the venue so we went to dinner as a group. The memories made. This tiny camel, sitting in my curio cabinet now, makes me smile and remember every time I pass by.

It is such a tiny thing. The quilt squares in the picture measure just 2.5 inches with the seam allowance.

@Morleyhunt Gosh, that is small. But I always look for small things too if I'm taking gifts away with me.

@Morleyhunt The time is a strange thing, it flies, but sometimes events seem happened so long ago in time.

yes,the little things and simple things ! but i tend to think so much that usually i m not able to notice all the little things in life. time to change. sorry,i just read this few minutes ago.i felt i should post it here, hoping its all fine? :) Most people want to be happy, but few know how to find happiness. Money and success alone do not bring lasting happiness. Aristotle, a Greek thinker, said, "Happiness depends upon ourselves." In other words, we make our own happiness. Here are a few suggestions to help you be happier. The first secret of happiness is to enjoy the simple things in life. Too often, we spend so much time thinking about the future. For example, getting into college or getting a good job -that we fail to enjoy the present. You should enjoy life's simple pleasures, such as reading a good book, listening to your favorite music, or spending time with close friends. People who have several close friends often live happier and healthier lives. Another secret to living a happy life is to be active, and have hobbies where you forget your problems and time. Many people experience this dancing, or playing a sport, such as swimming. You can forget about your problems, and only think about the activity. Finally, many people find happiness in helping others. Studies show that people feel good when they spend their time helping others. If you want to feel happier, do good things for someone. You can help a friend with his or her studies, go shopping to buy food for an elderly person, or simply help out around the house by washing the dishes.

Free time? Nope. If you want to make a quilt you do it in five minute bursts or while watching tv or listening to a book.
