Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow

This is the third winter that I have used the same hairdresser. She has instructions from my hairdresser up north: formula, don't pull color through, follow line of his cut, and no highlights. She did all that and more when I saw her last Tuesday. She used a thinning shears, put in too much product which left my hair looking greasy, and chopped off two inches. I planned on never returning. I felt like a pinhead! Last night at dinner with friends, a stranger asked who did my hair, the owner of the restaurant's wife asked me who did my hair, and my friend asked for the phone number and name of my hairdresser. I worked on it far too long before we went out, but think I'll return.

Your hair certainly looks pretty even though you weren't as happy with it as you thought you would be

The blonde is absolutely stunning Diane. I can see why you would have liked a few more inches left on. I would have done it perfectly for you. I will tell you a story. I might have mentioned that I wound up being a hairdresser when I was working. When I lived in Oxford, and I was 16 yrs old, I went to the most amazing Italian hairdresser, Paolo Gianni in Summertown. Well when I was doing hair many years later, a young woman who had been a student in Oxford was a client of mine. She also had her last haircut with Paolo. He was the man that inspired me to cut hair. I got to follow his cut that he had done on her hair, after all those many years, and all those miles away. I was honored to do so.

@TiarasOceanView We live in a very small village. I am always amazed at how many people have heard of it, visited it, etc. Not just around here but when we are away from home we have run into people who lived in this village at one time. Seems odd.

I have a hard time finding hair dressers too but so far, I found one I like. I am very simple when it comes to hair, and other salons always want to sell me on more than what I want, or need which I don't like.

@DianneN Thanks! My hair is now short, but many salons try to persuade me tog getting my hair colored, and I need this shampoo/conditioner, maybe a perm? I think you can ask, but if the person isn't interested at all ~ to keep persuading them is making them want to visit the salon anymore.

@infatuatedbby If I had your beautiful hair, I wouldn't color or perm it.

Your hair looks beautiful! I think all salons try to sell things to make extra money. We must be wise!

Thanks, Janet. I am working on getting used to it. It is the back of my head that is just ghastly. She cut it into a wedge that is so short, that my brush can't grab the hair. Disastrous!

Lol! You didn't offend at all! I had a good laugh when you told me what your hairdresser said about her not being able to wear a pixie, like you. The stress of my haircut made me lose a few pounds, so my pinhead is more in proportion to my body now. Thank you!

Somehow I can put up with any 'wardrobe mishaps' but I cannot tolerate my hair being different from what I want it to be. I avoid the owner and depend on her assistant who does it the way I want it. .

Based on the photo you shared I think your hair looks great. Judging from the comments you received, others agree. I hope you come to like it also. Perhaps it was just so different from what you're used to that you need time to accept the new look. But I think your new look will be getting a lot of admiring looks from others.

I have a favorite that does my hair, in a pinch anyone will do because I have a pixie, it's hard to mess up a pixie. I like the color and style of your hair.

I have been with the same hairdresser for about 30 years. I don't change my hair style as I have naturally curly hair and I like my hair style. It's nice, she knows what to do and we talk about other things while she cuts.

You are lucky! I love my hairdresser up north. This one takes forever and she wedged the back. I need a small round brush now to keep my hair from flipping. It took wetting it down three times, after drying it, to make it stop flipping and rippling. Grrrr

You should also have let them know you yourself put in a lot of work to get the hair right for the night and that you had issues with this time that you will be discussing the next time you go.

Yes, that is I! I wish I had a head of wild, curly hair. My hair is wavy. I have to fight it to stay straight, especially when it's humid. The grass is always greener it seems, especially when it comes to our hair!!!
