Is anyone experiencing typing errors at Mylot?

I have developed a rather odd typing issue over the last day or so, which I am finding rather hard to understand. A great number of letters are being omitted when I submit a comment or reply to a Mylot discussion. This is so prolific that the result is unrecognisable. My initial thought was naturally that the keyboard was at fault, but this does not seem to be the case. I can type a long message into Microsoft Word and copy and paste it into Mylot with no problems, yet typing directly into the site is seriously difficult. It could be a browser issue, but I am using the newly developed Microsoft Edge, which I have very little knowledge of as yet. Has anyone else experienced anything similar recently?

The only typing issue I have had is one where (occasionally) the first letter I type initiates a jump of the cursor to the beginning of the line so that the first letter becomes the last and gets pushed along as I type. What I mean is that when I type a sentence such as: "This is a sentence" it becomes: "his is a sentenceT" It seems to be a quirk of how the browser is interpreting the Javascript input box because I haven't seen it happen on any other site and it never happens in Word or Wordpad or any other application.

That is useful information because I had overlooked the fact that the javascript has to be understood by the browser. Microsoft Edge is still in it’s infancy and with few people using it the improvements are slower than expected. Sadly my knowledge of Microsoft Edge is also limited, so solving issues becomes more elusive.

@Rollo1 There have been a few references online about Microsoft Edge being unfriendly towards javascript.

@Asylum A game site that my sister likes uses java and they recommend only Internet Explorer 11 for using the site. It may be that Edge doesn't like java. I know Chrome won't have anything to do with it anymore.

Only those I make myself. I bet it is a browser issue. I had a problem with that and cleaned my browser cache and it helped it immediately. Now I keep it cleaned out.

That is certainly worth a try because I rarely bother with the cache.

The mistyping is so prolific for me that trying to submit it that way would result in a completely unreadable message.

I have issues with some of my keys on the keyboard and also that I suffer from some arthritis pains in fingers - especially during winters. As such, I am prone to typos. Cannot blame on Mylot yet. but I do recheck before submitting (agreed, not always - it happens mostly when the red lines appear on the browser and I notice them).

That was my usual approach, but with a myriad of typing errors it is not reliable because missing letters often results in a valid but unrelated word, such as trying to type "could" and ending up with "cold".

@thesids I have done similar and "not" has been omitted, which obviously makes an essential difference.

@Asylum lol. Yes, I did mess things many a times.... O one particular instance, I was to write I didnt but the nt did not appear. and I pressed submit. Luckily, before the OP could reply, another friend pointed this out. And it could have been embarrassing

I've not had any problems but I always write my posts elsewhere, then copy and paste. I haven't had any problems responding and commenting.

I always compose discussions in Microsoft Word, but recently I have had to resort to using that approach for comments as well.

@pgntwo I have to agree, but is certainly easier than struggling to type directly into Mylot and constantly failing. I have just launched Internet Explorer to check out if it helps and it seems very different indeed.

@Asylum The copy-paste approach seems to be far more effort than it is worth...?

Tried it and don't like it There is a slight typing lag and the text looks a bit weird. I'll be sticking to chrome. Not saying it's your problem but it could well be.

Microsoft Edge.... the day my Windows got updated was the day I abandoned this browser. They said IE would be discontinued, but thanks lord it is not yet. Not that I use it...but definitely better than Edge. I have very little experience, but something really put me off. Even today, when some link tries to open it I am prompt to change the default options.

Internet Explorer is still packaged with Windows 10, but it is secreted under Windows Accessories and many people do not realise.

@hora_fugit I would imagine that very few people use that approach these days and many may not even realise what the Run system is.

@Asylum I always open any program by typing its name, so finding IE was easy game. :)

That's happened to me a lot as I type directly here. But I blame it on myself! (I type too fast and make plenty of errors )

Mine is certainly not self imposed because I have taken time to deliberately type the words slowly and still had the same scenario. Furthermore, personal mistyping would not be solved by using Microsoft Word first.

It appears that my browser is the most likely culprit. I was using the new Microsoft Edge, which is the default browser included with Windows 10. Microsoft Edge is still quite new and not used by many people, so there are still some issues to be ironed out.

@Morleyhunt I now suspect that it is a conflict with my browser because I have opened Internal Explorer and have no such issues.

no I didn't get that when I was using Edge. But Edge was slow for me so I'm using Firefox now. Sometimes though I get where words is switched when I comment, but I quickly fix it.

Mine has been fairly prolific and now applies to letters at random. I honestly cannot remember if it began with a few letters, which I would have assumed was my own mistyping.

@Asylum I thought the same thing, but how could I not type an o and an l. I restarted and that took care of the problem. But it could have been my keyboard.

I have not experienced that with mylot before. It's quite weird. If it's related to browser, I might just clear the cache and everything. Have you tried with the system reboot? I always try that when I have any unknown issues with my computer. Hope you'll get it fixed soon.

Naturally I have cleared the cache, but since this has been a few days it would be pointless to reboot the system.

I often have lag issues on myLot and I do find that even when I think I have typed correctly, some of the letters get mislaid. I think that some just get lost in the lag.
