A Brief Review

The month is ending so I am reviewing how I am doing with my resolutions. Lose weight - maintaining my weight so, good enough. Exercise/ get fit - I joined 6 scheduled walks with my walking group. It's a start. I'll aim for at least 2 per week in February and do better at keeping track of other exercise I do. I have my little calendar ready to record this. Earn more from mystery shopping - On course for this, bumped it up a bit. Get organized: I have entered all my mystery shopping work this month in my ledger. This is an improvement as I tend to let it pile up. I have tidied a couple of drawers and cupboards. A few things have been decluttered and a few things arranged better. It's a start. Now I am off to organize something.

I am impressed, you did a lot of what you wanted to do and even if you didn't do quite as much it is impressive.

Hey, you're doing well. I should do something like this. I can imagine a great flurry at the end of each month to try to meet my goals. :)

I was like that when I went to weight watchers, I would basically starve the day before weigh in.

In my book, maintaining is a success. Every pound I never gain back is a success.

You are so doing better than I @paigea . I am just not finding my feet this year. I did not set resolutions for myself this year, but really have to try to get schedules set for certain things. All the best with your resolutions.

@paigea , I feel there is too much I need to improve. My time management is also terrible. So thanks for the good luck wishes.

Sounds like you are doing really well. Did I tell you about the "Toss Twenty Tuesday" ? Every week on Tuesday, I toss 20 things out. As I go through the week, cleaning and organizing, I collect things that I don't need anymore. I have three boxes. One is for absolute trash or recycling, like magazines and newspapers and old catalogs, one is for clothes that I will give to someone else or to the Goodwill and one is for items that I give to a friend who has a booth at a Flea Market, so he can sell them. I heard about this "Toss" idea on Bubblews and I really liked the idea so I've been doing it for quite a while now. I've been trying to clean out my "home" office since I retired last year and there is a lot to get rid of. Once I do, my son is going to repurpose this room for me to have a sitting room with a TV and be able to set up my sewing machine, etc. I have a long way to go, but I'm still making progress, every day. I concentrate on one area at a time. This room has been full of paperwork and business related items that I just don't need anymore. I have collected a lot of things that just need to go.

I used to do that Toss Twenty Tuesday on Bubblews too. I have been decluttering for years now. It is funny that I can go through something like the linen closet and keep certain things, and then the next time I come back to it I find I haven't used those things so out they go. I have developed the habit of thinking about everything I handle in a day - "Do I really need this? Do I have more than one? should it be kept somewhere else,?" So I try to get rid of needless things daily. And when shopping I think of what I am going to get rid of as soon as I get home if I buy something. My house is a lot less cluttered than it used to be, but things have become disorganized. And the office was the staging ground for unpacking boxes when we moved in and I have never got back in there and organized it! I made a little step yesterday to organizing paperwork.

Good job on the first month of the year. I don't keep track, but that's ok because I 'm on vacation.

Good for you! At least you are doing pretty well with your resolutions. I walk anyway, more so down here where it's warm. It keeps the metabolism going and the weight drops, little by little. Keep it up!

That sounds good! Perhaps you will get everything organized by next month. I think it's good to do a monthly review, I might go ahead and do mine. I think I am doing quite well in January, have learned some cooking and baking skills, and the homeschooling went well as well. It's just that I didn't spend much time at my programming work. I'll have to work hard on that in February.

It sounds like you just did your review. I signed up with a website that coaches me to organize my home in a year. So, it is a gradual process.

@paigea O so you work , but in a part time basis only . That's good because you can still have time to take care of the house . But why do you say that you may never get to retire ?

Sorry but maintaining is not losing! "I'll aim" sounds like an excuse instead of "I will"

are you trying to give me a kick in the pants. (as my mother used to say.) I lost weight previously so every pound I never gain back is a success. I have all year to lose some more. I will exercise at least 2 times per week in February and I will make note of it so I am sure I have done it. I will aim to join the walking group twice a week - can't change that as some of the walks happen when I am at work. The walks schedule fluctuates and my work schedule varies. But no excuse for not exercising that doesn't depend on anyone but me.

I'm managing not too badly with my own weight loss goals but I certainly could exercise more - I just lack the motivation most evenings.

@paigea That sounds like a good idea. I try to go to the gym but I'm getting very good at reasons why I should not bother going after work!

That motivation is a tough one for me. Putting my goal out here in public helps a bit. But joining that walking group has been the best thing. Days I might have sat here if I had signed up for a walk; I got going and joined my friends.

@euphie yes, that is one reason I gave up the gym. That and it's just too far from home especially if I am not going to use it regularly. Making a commitment with other people seems to be a good way to get me to just go do it!
