What a January! Remember to Appreciate Life!

The words, "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry" from the poem "To a Mouse" from "Robert Burns", is so apt to life. We can plan, but, nothing is a given. Nothing should be taken for granted. What a January it was. Birthdays for my Mom and me, then five birthdays in a row of friends of mine. It was lovely to have so many celebrations and so much champagne. I had plans to go for a ladies night last Friday and instead had to go Thursday night an exact week after my Birthday. Reason for change in plans? A funeral. My friends and I all know each others families and the cousin of a friend of mine passed away last week Tuesday at the age of 27 and 7 months. It was sudden and a shock, and so terribly sad. And his funeral was held on Friday. So, no way were we going to go out for cocktails after a funeral. Once again, we were all reminded how very precious life is. And we all just wanted to be with our families Friday night. We were reminded to appreciate, value, cherish each second with our loved ones. There is nothing like a funeral to bring life and what is important in it into perspective. Do you agree? I wish everyone a happy, healthy, good February. Remember to appreciate life and your loved ones.

''It is better to go to the house of mourning than to go to the house of feasting, for this is the end of all mankind, and the living will lay it to heart'' Ecc.7:2 Indeed we have to appreciate life and our loved ones.

I think sudden deaths, particularly of those who cannot be regarded as 'old', are particularly hard to deal with. I'm sorry for your friend.
