What Time Do You Rise?

What time do you get up of a morning? Are you one that likes to sleep in, if you can? I am surprised by the number of people that don’t have to get up early, but rise before the sun does. It seems that those who don’t have to get up early do anyway. I like waking up before hubby. The house is quiet and I can work on my computer in peace. My lap top sits on the dining room table, beside a large “picture” window and I love to watch the sunrise! I also have a bird feeder hanging from a tree right outside that window and I can watch so many birds come and go. What time do you get up of a morning and why?

I very rarely get up before 10am, often later, but I don't go to bed till 4am.

@nanette64 Well you have animals that you have to get up for in the morning, I don't. And the husband can get his own breakfast!

Oh my gosh, @jaboUK! I am falling asleep on the couch by 10:00pm! That is one reason, I don't like winter, the days are so short! When it starts getting dark outside, I am ready for bed!

This morning I was up at 5 due to the snoring...but I am always up before 6.

I have to admit, where my husband doesn't know I am admitting it, that I am usually the one doing the snoring! LOL He wears earplugs to sleep!

@sgbrown I snore but he doesn't mind it, I can't stand his snoring - the whole house shakes.

@AbbyGreenhill I don't think I am a "loud" snorer, but hubby is a light sleeper. He doesn't snore often, but when he does, it rattles the windows!

I usually get up around 9 am. I'm up late most nights though, and I rarely sleep straight through the night.

@sgbrown I've never been able to sleep through the night consistently. Even as a child. These days I aim to be in bed about 8 hours and hope for 6 hours of broken sleep during that time.

I can't seem to stay up later than about 10:30. Hubby likes to stay up until around 11:00 or 11:30, but I will fall asleep on the couch! I am lucky, that I have always been able to sleep through the night.

@carlaabt I have always been a "good" sleeper and slept through the night. The only thing that will wake me is our driveway alarm. If someone drives up our driveway an alarm goes off, but sometimes it goes off all by itself. It picks up on the metal in a vehicle. When it goes off by itself, hubby says the deer are walking by with their "bling" on!

I like to get up once I'm awake too. If I wake at 4am and feel it's too early to get up, I sometimes manage to go back to sleep for a couple of hours but then I need to get up.

Me too, @marlina I feel like I am wasting so much time if I lay in bed! I like to get my "chores" done early in the day so I have the rest of the day to do other things.

We're retired too but we still get up relatively early. It seems to waste the day if we stay in bed too long.

I don't think I could sleep until 9:00 am if I wanted to. I think my body is so used to getting up early that it wouldn't let me!

@Marcyaz That is one reason we have always closed the bedroom door when we sleep. Our husky used to jump up in bed with us if we slept too late!

If for some reason, we try to sleep late, our dogs won't let us. They will bark at the door, needing to go outside. But then, I would rather get up and let them out so they don't pee in the floor!

I'm usually up early. With three young kids who are usually up early, it's rare that I get the chance to wake late. I'm usually up between 6 and 7, although usually closer to 6.

I do love not having to set that alarm! I usually get up now just as early as I did when I had to leave the house to go to work, but it's just not the same when you have to wake up to an alarm clock!

I am working on a night shift so I really don't wake up at morning, instead I sleep when I get home. When I'm off, I usually wake up at 7 am - 11 am. I'm not a morning person I want to spend morning at our bed. But we need to wake up early because of the baby. He's an early riser and he wants to go outside. I seize the opportunity to stay under the first sun if there is for my baby. If the baby is not in the house then we get up at around 8 am to see him who's under the care of my sister-in-law when I'm at work.

@sgbrown I never thought that I can work on a night shift straight for two years now. But there are times that I request for a day shift if I needed to. I worked before for night shift but the schedule is shifting every week. Now I can manage to work on a night shift since the salary has an increase versus day shift.

I am a morning person. The alarm clock sounds at 5:30 AM and I am out of bed almost instantly. If I am on vacation we don't set the alarm, I awaken at almost the same time and get out of bed.

I never have to set an alarm anymore and what a wonderful feeling! I used to get up at 5:30 when I worked, now I wake up around 5:00 or 5:30 most mornings anyway. I did sleep until 6:30 this morning, but yesterday was a long and tiring day!

I am one that likes to sleep in, if I can. I do not have a fixed time and generally get up between 7-10 a.m. depends on what time I hit the sack which is more than often after midnight. Every night when I go to bed I resolve to wake up before 6 a.m. but by the morning resolution gets out and "good ol' mornin' nap" stays in mind.

I have never really liked to "sleep in". I think I feel like I am going to miss something! I have always had a hard time staying up late, I am usually in bed by 10:30. I will have to admit that some days I do take a short "cat nap" around 2:00 in the afternoon!
