Sam Elliot is a true Western cowboy who has portrayed many characters in movies and television.
A couple of really good movies that I remember was Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.
He is still a Great Actor and you always know without even seeing who it is (by His Voice.)
He has been in so many movies that I can't recall all of them.
What were your favorites that Sam Elliot played in.

He sure had been in some good ones. Katharine Ross and him have been married a long time. He narrates Ford commericals. I hate Ford but love his voice. I know a guy that has a voice just like his and so I love it when he calls me.

I don't generally pay any attention to commericals but will have to remember this.

His very first movie, I think, was "Life Guard", no cowboy there, just an LA boy who wants to just be a life guard. He owns a ranch a few miles north of here in Coburg, Oregon.

Not sure if I ever saw Life Guard but I know he is a wonderful actor, I didn't know he lived in Oregon.

Oh I see that is a good idea for him to loan out his property and still maintain it.

@Marcyaz He does not live here, but maintains his property here and loans it out to some of his Malibu neighbors.

I don't recall which movie I've seen him in but I know I have seen at least one with him. I love western movies. So does my pop so sometimes I watch one with him. I know Sam Elliot wasn't in this movie but I watched Paint Your Wagon with my nan and pop and I fell in love with it. Such a good movie.
I know there's more true full on western movies I've seen but I can't think of any. But the western theme / era is one of my favourites!

@VivaLaDani13 I am blissfully ignorant of all these movies and actors you peep are talking about. So, I will sit quiet and wear my sunglasses to hide my ignorance.

Hi now your talking I like Sam Elliot, he's got that real swagger of a cowboy about him, I mean no disrespect but as an actual look and voice he embodies that of a real tough cowboy right up there with Clint Eastwood and John Wayne, maybe even higher.
I loved him in Conagher , tombstone yes and definitely road house but one of the roles I love him in is Ghostrider as the caretaker it just suited him to a tee.
Great post

I remember him by looking at his face, but not and Butch Cassidy. In that movie, I was completly mesmerized by Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

He has had such a long career. I like his westerns. A very good early role was Lifeguard from the 1970s which may surprise his fans.
