Have you ever tried online dating sites

We often think people who try online dating sites must be those hopeless, helpless cases, but that's not always the case.
Some people work crazy hours that doesn't allow for much time to get out, socialize and meet someone. And now-a-days that's got to be even harder with everyone face in their phones or on social media sites.
I've had friends join such sites and I love my friends. They are great people. Their number one reason for even trying one of these sites is the simple fact that they have lived their whole life in the town they grew up in and know everyone there.
Let's face it not a lot of people move into small towns and even fewer move out.
If you ever tried an online dating site I love to know how it made you feel even signing up and what was your experience like?

Yes, I have tried and met some really nice women and I'm still friends with a couple but did not fall in love and still looking but now I'm looking for someone close, no more long-distance.
I see that you have 3 children. Are you looking or doing research with that question?

I am happily attached. I thought it would be a good question for research purposes.

I haven't tried the actual dating sites. But I did met my fiance online many years ago on an AOL message board.

Congrads, I'm happy it worked out for you even if you didn't try a dating site.

I have joined a dating site. It is really hard meeting people in my town, or in my state for that matter. I have made some really good friends from there, and not so good friends. And now I am no longer on there. And hope to not have to go on there again.

At least you made so good friends from the experience. What sort of things do you try now?

@WendySpickerman I am not doing anything really. If I date then it would be the people I already know.

I have never tried any dating sites. A couple of guys have contacted me in Facebook, but I told them honestly about what I believe, and they gave up.
It is important to learn to know someone in real life, to really know what kind of person they are. And it is always better start as just a friend, and after a long time see where it leads.

Yes, I have heard of this and found it quite fascinating how the whole family plays a part in it all. There was a documentary on t.v. about this sort of match making there. I am curious how couples end up, if the match is a happy match or just one for security in living. The couple on the show seemed to like each other, but it seemed a bit overwhelming for the woman.

@WendySpickerman Its like going to a new hostel with new room mates. You get along well with people who are nice and pretend the others don't exist :)

I signed up for a few sites but I never liked what I was getting, none of the guys who actually contacted me were my type so I either canceled the account or just didn't go back. I think I'll just leave the online dating alone, I don't think it's for me.
