Trump Gets Trumped

I like the fact that Donald Trump speaks his mind and doesn't back down when someone calls him on what he said. That quality, however, doesn't translate into good presidential material.
Apparently the Republican caucus attendees in Iowa thought so, too. The fact that Trump was leading in every poll, and solidly so, gave him such false confidence that he skipped the last debate. His arrogant approach and "taking things for granted" cost him Iowa.
I don't think Trump is presidential material. If he can't deal with a Fox News moderator that he doesn't like, what's he going to do with ISIS, Putin, North Korea, China, and leaders of the other party? I do think that our government needs to be run with more business sense and financial responsibility (the approach to everything now seems to be "spend money, we can print more or raise taxes to cover it"), but there are other things involved in being president. Our current president doesn't seem to know that, and we certainly don't need someone else who fails to acknowledge that fact replacing him!

I wouldn't say that they're "less selfish," especially here in America. I would say, instead, that they're better capable of hiding their narcissism and true motives than Trump.
And you're absolutely correct about the true motives behind his bid for presidency. He's a billionaire, so if he became president he'd have to take a major pay cut. Sometimes I think he started running for president as a joke (we have a U.S. senator [from Minnesota] who used to be a comedian [Al Franken, who was a semi-regular on the old Saturday Night Live show in the late 70's]) and is trying to see how far the joke will take him.

I can't understand why in the previous debates he was center stage and/or got first question and so much attention. Well I know that answer to that question. It would be nice to see one where he isn't. When does it take place by the way, anyone? I watched part of one debate?

@FourWalls Some of things I heard mentioned in one debate were overwhelming like what to do with the economy, isis or iran's nuclear involvement. Yes you wonder sometimes if there is any real debate or if anyone can really do much about those things anyway. How else can you get to know what a person is about or like though? People don't know these people until they see what they say. I don't look that often either and if I do just out of interest. I guess if we feel they don't have a good agenda then that does tell us something.

I don't watch the debates. Most of them aren't "debates," they're public insult swaps. I would like to see a real debate: "here's what I stand for." NOT "isn't my opponent's tie ugly." I think most of the debates over the past 20 years or so have turned into personal insults/attacks because no one can articulate what he/she truly stands for, either because he/she knows it's not in line with what most of the country believes or they don't even have an agenda to articulate.

I am glad he didn't win Iowa. He has been so cocky and plain rude.

You're right, and in the end a person in high political office has to temper his/her words. Ronald Reagan was a forceful president and spoke in no uncertain terms, but even he didn't use the almost childish words reserved for playground bullies that Trump does.

He does need to tone it down a bit. Personally, I would have gone to the debate and told Megyn Kelly off, but that's just me.
I don't think he's a bad man and if it comes down to it I'll vote for him.

As bad as Trump is, Cruz is worse. This isn't a case of the lesser of two evils. They are both bad choices.

I agree. Trump wouldn't go to the last debate because he asked them not to have that woman and they wouldn't do it. He is a spoiled jerk. He says things about women that I find very insulting. He has no tact and wouldn't make a good president. Having Sara Pailin follow him is such a joke. I can't stand her. I can't find anything about the man that I like. I really feel that with the amount of crap going on around the world we need someone in the presidency that has some experience and he isn't it.

I didn't know he lost Iowa, have been following other Trump related news. There's a pic out there of him and his daughter that is odd. Also, two of his wives are on the list of women who married for money.
