Day 7 – Fear Not
Nehemiah 6
What do you do when people taunt you, trying to get you to do what they want so they can bring accusations against you to the authorities? We see those tactics with bullies who would like to show off to their peers and those in authority that they can make things happen in their favor.
Sanballat, Tobiah, and Gesham tried those tactics with Nehemiah in order to get the work to stop on the wall of Jerusalem. However, Nehemiah saw through their tactics and did not give in to their devices to stop the work God set for him, and he completed the work despite all opposition, and Sanballat, Tobiah, and Gesham recognized it was God’s work.
Satan has his tactics he uses against us to cause us to sin and turn away from the work God has laid before us. He uses every device at his disposal, and if we are not wary of him, and seeking God’s face throughout the work God has for us, we can fall prey to his tactics. However, when we stand strong in the power of God’s might, we will overcome and beat down every opposition that Satan brings against us.
Ephesians 6:10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. (KJV)
Nehemiah stood strong in the Lord, seeking His face whenever Sanballat, Tobiah, and Gesham came against him, and he was able to finish the work.
We too will finish the work God sets before us when we stand strong in the Lord.
Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (KJV)
Do not let any thoughts contrary to what God told you persuade you to stop what you are doing. Satan’s goal is to get you to stop what you are doing and fall in fear and trembling, afraid of your own shadow. But God will stand by you and help you, just as the men stood on the wall with Nehemiah with their weapons in their hand, doing the work until they finished, and no breach was found anywhere on the wall. No breach will be found in you either.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you that You began a work in me and You will finish it. Help me not to listen to Satan and fall prey to his evil tactics. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen.
