Today's Adventure

I had several titles in mind for this post, but this one is best. I turned off the light and went to sleep at 3:30 this morning after finishing the notifications for the second time yesterday, and considering how many met my gaze a short while ago, I'm glad I stayed up to finish them. I was up just before 11 and the snow hadn't started yet. I checked last night to see if there were any closings for today and found a whole list of closings, basically the city is closed down, all schools, except the college, which is what I went looking for. So at just after noon today with snow coming down all around, I headed out the door, book in hand, to take my son to college. When we got there I found the school would be closing at 4:30, that meant he would have just one class. That's good because it's the class he missed last week. Coming home was an adventure. The plows were out, but the streets were bad. I did my best to stay in the ruts already made from other drivers. I'm going to say there was already three inches in just those couple hours. The college is amazing. I graduated from there twenty years ago and it has undergone a total renovation. I had to remember where the cafeteria was. When I arrived, gone was the sterile look it had twenty years ago. It was greatly expanded and there was a fireplace in the middle of the room. The lounge where they show movies was completely relocated. It had been part of the cafeteria in days gone by, not anymore. I also saw the game room had a new location. Some things couldn't be changed and it was interesting to see how they melded old with new. One thing I found interesting was that while I was attending classes there, on one hallway there were black silhouettes of birds on the windows. They're still there. Also canceled for today is my writer's group. Even if the library weren't closed, I'm quite sure it would be canceled. The prediction was for 5-8 inches. Somehow I think we're going to surpass that total. So that is today's adventure. I got the Daily Bible Study done when I got home and now I am actively interacting with all of you and hope I can get the 80+ notifications done before I go to bed tonight. Whenever that will be. I have a feeling I won't be doing much of anything even tomorrow. Right now there is still AWANA, but that could change. If the schools are still closed, that will be canceled as well.
