Many people do not realize that Chinese has two calendars in place.
The Chinese New Year is based on the Chinese lunar calendar. Every 15th of the Chinese lunar calendar is a full moon. The Mid-Autumn Festival occurs on the 15th of the eighth month of Chinese lunar calendar.
However, Chinese has a solar calendar as well.
This solar calendar is also known as the Farmer’s calendars.
The Chinese solar calendar tells the farmers when to plant, when to harvest, and the changes of the seasons.
For example, 4 February of every year is the official start date of the Spring season. 21 or 22 of December of every year is the winter solstice, where the family gathers to eat Tung Yuan.

I know Chinese lunar calendar but I don't use it at all. I just use the standard calendar like many countries. Even I don't celebrate birthdays according to Chinese lunar calendar. But Chinese lunar calendar.tells us when will be the traditional Chinese festivals, such as Chinese New Year, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-autumn Festival etc. That's all for me.
