At least not here in southern California.
I usually leave early in the morning and go to Starbucks to write. It seldom gets below freezing, though maybe once or twice over the winter, we may notice frost on a few of the neighbors' roofs.
The other morning, I got up to leave for Starbucks and found frost on the roof of my car. I had to run my fingers in it for a bit. I took the picture a little later, after the sun had risen. The frost was still there.

California is a big place. It's quite common in the northern part of the state and not all that uncommon in the south where I live on, say roofs of people's houses a couple times a year. But this was the first time I couple recall seeing it on the roof of my car.

My husband is originally from California. He was doing business in Schenectady, NY some years ago and noticed the rental car came with this spatula-like thing he couldn't identify. It snowed overnight. He figured it out when he saw the windshield in the morning.
