I've thought about rooting my phones before in the past, but, was afraid to do it, afraid that I'd screw it up or something. You can try to go to Androidandme.com and sign up and post that same question in the forum. They have Android experts there that have rooted phones and have had success with the rooting. I always go to that website for answers, or questions on my Android phones. It is a good website to go to. I wish you luck in getting your phone fixed!

I think you should try flashing the stock firmware with stock kernel. That will always solve the problem but you will lose he root. Then you can try any other method to root your phone.
