While I was surfing tgrough the discussions here, I just tried out the Top rated section, which I usually dont use.
I could find discussions with a lot of responses and likes there. Then I went to the Hot section and realised that the same posts are shown up there too.
So my question is what is the difference between these sections? They shows the same discussions on both of them!

The 'Hot' category lists recent discussions with the most activity/responses. The 'Top Rated' category lists recent discussions by the highest number of 'likes'. Because a discussion with a lot of responses tends to also have a high number of 'likes', both of these lists are very similar, if not quite identical.
The 'Interesting' list, by the way, is driven by the tags you yourself have used in your discussions, so individuals are likely to see very different listings on that page.
'Most Recent', 'New Users' and 'No Responses' should be fairly self-explanatory.

I have no idea as I pay little attention to that.
