Tales of the Village: Eddie the Window Cleaner and the lost cat

Our village is a big one, easily big enough to keep a hard working window cleaner busy and Eddie the Window Cleaner has been that man for many years now. He is a local 'celebrity' and whenever anybody asks on the village Facebook page for a recommendation for a window cleaner, Eddie gets dozens of commendations. He's been doing our windows for 11 years and in that time he's never put up the price. He keeps it simple - a tenner a time, no messing, no increases, just a straight tenner. Admittedly Eddie's getting older and now sends one of his 'boys' up the ladder, sticking to the ground floor windows most of the time. Yesterday another local celebrity - Julie the Mad Cat Lady (I'm not kidding, she has business cards that say 'The Mad Cat Lady') - posted a photo of a very handsome lilac Burmese cat who had been found at the village allotments. She took him in, popped him in her 'cattery' hut in the garden and set about trying to find his humans. It was clear that kitty was a posh cat and that there was probably a very worried family missing him. Sasha the cat was recognised by Eddie who contacted Julie TMCL and told her where he lived. Sasha's mum was very happy to have her boy back and is very unlikely to ever stop having Eddie clean her windows.

Reminds me of the song 'When I'm Cleaning Windows'. People like Eddie help form the rich fabric of village life. He sounds a great character.

Between Eddie and the postman, the pets of the village are well monitored.

I know that you would miss Eddie if he decides to retire. I am glad that the Burmese boy found his Mom.

I hope that Eddie will keep the business going via his 'lads'. He can keep supervising and sending them up the ladders.
