I was reading some quotations on friendship and I really loved this one...
"Friendship is like peeing in your pants, everyone can see it, only you can feel it"..
I couldn't stop laughing..I admire whoever is the genius who came up with such quotation.
I don't know if you all have some quotations on your mind that make you laugh hard.
I mean usually quotations are so serious and solemn...
"A friend to all is friend to none" by Aristotle...is so serious..even if true..
Even Socrates had such serious advise...so hard to remember.
So do you search for quotations that are not famous or not by famous people...or prefer to remember the difficult ones just to sound well read?

Well... Since you are talking about peeing I will share one of my favorite paintings and quotes. The painting is of a sparkly bathroom with the toilet lid up, seat down, and a toilet paper holder with toilet paper. The quote is "We aim to please, You aim too, please." I always thought that was just so funny.

I don't normally throw out quotations from others, either famous or not! LOL! Anyone trying to use quotes from famous people to sound smart around me is in for a definite disappointment! I won't recognize famous quotes unless I had read about them recently myself, so using them is a waste of time! LOL!
The second you have to explain you used a famous quote to someone who doesn't recognize it is the instant you realize you sound like a moron to that person, and that ruins the effect you were going for!

@DaddyEvil ...Personally, like "a picture is worth a thousand words". quotations I feel do the same job.....but there are so many...and why should we only remember those by famous people? Aren't there enough by others that are easier to recall offhand? Does that mean this person is less well read? Having more choice is often the same as having none...:( Simply because selection becomes difficult.

@vandana7 vanny, I always look at it like this: If someone reading what I write or speaking to me can't tell I'm well read, then the fault is entirely my own!
Speak (or write) like a moron, be recognized as a moron!

@vandana7 To answer your question about quotes, I think they are all to often used as a crutch, I see a quote taken of someones work and used to justify a position opposite to what you imaging they would support. It is like quoting Ghandi (who was well known to love the simple things in life) in order to support industrialisation.

I prefer funny/sarcastic/witty ones that carries hidden wisdom in them... Even if it makes no sense...

@Daljinder Yep! I have been known to miss a notification because I turned OFF all notifications except/unless a person directly tags me in a conversation. I couldn't keep up with my notifications if I hadn't implemented some kind of limit on the number I receive!

I don't know if you will find it funny but i had seen something like this written somewhere " A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed and A Friend Indeed is a Friend in Need" Probably the writer is being sarcastic towards the so called friends...........

I repeated something that I found to be funny. Not applicable to you and anybody I am friends with. Ok?

@vandana7 Really? So if I need help, say if someone misreads something I write you won't be a friend of mine anymore? Or am I misreading or misunderstanding what you wrote?

I very much admire quotations, and quotations of all shapes, forms, variety, and level of seriousness—or lack thereof. Sometimes a good quotation is a greats means to getting to a point that perhaps you otherwise may have found it difficult to have found words for.
That being said, as to this quotation in particular, this is a pretty funny one. Although I can assure you that I did not pee my pants reading it. Maybe I came just a little close. But not enough to soak all the way through to my jeans. I HAVE shat myself a time or two, and nothing is more noticeable than one who has soiled himself or herself in such a way...
And perhaps nothing is equally more embarrassing. Even being caught having a little bit of self loving fun was less embarrassing.

Sigh...so we are not good friends because you did not pee in your pants? Evil Grin
Shat...never done that...but it does scare me...the thought. I will get to it I suppose eventually... I am 62. Hopefully, almighty likes the perfume of my shat and calls me by then.

If a man does not make new acquaintances as he advances through life, he will soon find himself left alone. A man Sir, should keep his friendship in constant repair. - Samuel Johnson - (1709-1784)
