A few more days and it's summer here in my country. Bright hot sunny days have been forecasted by our local weather bureau. Chances of recovery from el nino is bleak. Drought in the Mindanao area is feared. Every Filipino is advised to gear up. Fire prevention and water conservation is a must for every household. Government paid ads are aired on television and radio reminding everyone to be cautious.
How do you prepare for summer? Is your country also affected by global warming? Just a couple of days ago i saw photos of farms in Mindanao suffering from the effects of el nino. Knowing the extent of damage but unable to do something is heart wrenching. Lots of damage to crops is affecting our country's food supply. Most vegetables and other farm products are expensive. No relief yet from the hot scurching sun is seen for this part of our country. Options like cloud seeding are being considered. Pest control is another problem that needs attention. Quality and quantity of farm crops have been affected.
Rain is expected in the months of June or May. Strong storms will finish off what the el nino started to destroy. Tough and trying times ahead for a lot of us Filipinos. Unfortunately not a lot of options to choose from but stand strong and face the wrath of nature. Vast farmlands will soon recover anyway.
What would you do if you were in the same situation? X-ray vision and super human strength ... would you wish for? Younger Filipinos meanwhile look for greener pastures. Zooming in on survival for families and loved ones.
Amidst all these adversities i am positive the Philippines and the Filipinos will survive!

hope it doesn't get that bad for you there - global warming actually improves our summers but our winters are very harsh

The Philippines are certainly taking the brunt of the worst effects of climate changes at present - hope you are all going to be alright

nice acrostic discussion you made here. I think it is good too, if you made this in poem style so we will appreciate how you made the lines alphabetically.
climate change really gives us these erratic weather.

@ridingbet I'm not very familiar with those kind of poems. I'm used to writing poems that rhyme at the end of every sentence or every other sentence.

@mammots there are poetry styles that may not have rhymes at the end of every line I think. So, that could be a free-flowing poem. ( I cannot express what I wish to convey)

There has been change in the timing of change of season here since last two years or so. So, I believe it is because of global warming.
