My tips: Join as many affiliate programs as possible if you have the time. It'll be difficult to start off in the beginning to promote the affiliate programs but it can become autopilot when you have enough affiliates under you and have a good passive incomes.

There is a learning curve with affiliate marketing, but once you learn how to do it, it can turn very profitable. I am learning from a website called Wealthy Affiliate. The problem with most websites and ebooks in this area is that they are more hype than help. At Wealthy Affiliate they teach you step by step how to become successful at this, and they give you the straight scoop. It takes work to become successful at anything. 2 months ago I knew nothing about affiliate marketing, but I am already making an extra $100 per week doing this and I know that I will continue increasing that amount and hopefully within a year or 2 can do it full time.

yourshopgirl,
Glad to read you are now doing affiliate marketing.
As far as being part time, this is the BEST way to start ... do I STRONGLY suggest you do NOT quit your "regular" job and say your a going to do affiliate marketing full time, yet.
Going full time as an affiliate marketer is possible, but NOT EASY! There is allot of work involved to get to this (full time) level. This is why you should take serious caution to those who tell you other wise ... notice those who tell you the opposite of what I just said are trying to sell you their product - - hummmm. And allot of those people are NOT full time affiliate marketers!!!
Reading am books is a great way to go ... you can always find usable information in everyone's book, but still take caution you do not get caught up doing verbatim what the am book teaches ... what worked for them may or may not work for you ... this is due to many factors ... could be money spent, their list, product/service being offered, timing, etc.
As for me. I am not a full time am marketer, not because I do not like it ... my first and true passion is my main lively hood (a full time entertainer - magician) ... but, I DO make money daily via - am.
AM 101 Tip 1: If someone suggests in order to sell their product you must pay them first - - run away!
AM 101 Tip 2: DON'T SEND ALL THE HYPE FILLED FLUFF 99.9% of AM SEND - - can you still make money sending fluff? Yes. Is it long term - - NO!
AM 101 Tip 3: STOP!!! Build a REAL relationship with your lists ... do not always try to sell them something, this is a HUGE mistake MOST AM make and then wonder why they are not making money. MAKE CUSTOMERS, NOT JUST SALES!
Feel free to PM me if you have questions. I may not tell you what you want to hear, but I will not lie to you!

My experience is that's it's difficult to make it over the hump so to speak. It's easy to make a little money, but hard to make a lot. Those that do make a lot are working probably 10 or 12 hour days, and could probably do better with a more traditional job.
Nice hobby though.

What is an affiliate marketer? It sounds very interesting. I am up for anything having to do with earning a living from home. I run an ebay store but am not making much from it. At least you are doing your homework by reading. Let me know how this works out for you.
