why we don't understand

life is full of joy and sad events both are equally important for our life even more moment of sadness teaches something - every body knows it well but no one want to be in sad situation. why?

As they say, life is not always about rainbows and butterflies. I think it is necessary to experience the high and lows of life for us to be able to appreciate it more. We will never know joy if we have not experience sadness .
