Super Bowl Melodrama

So now we've got people grabbing their torches and pitchforks over Beyonce's supposedly "anti-cop" Half-Time show (didn't see anything anti-cop in it myself) and certain groups furious over the supposedly pro-abortion Doritos ad.
This reminds me of a similar brouhaha about 12 years ago. One that also involved a female R&B singer and the Super Bowl half-time show. Of course I'm referring to the Janet Jackson "Wardrobe malfunction". The overreaction to that was completely ridiculous. I recall reading an article calling it "cultural terrorism" and claiming that Janet and Justin had declared war on America's families. Good lord!
Recall that that also happened in an election year, at a point when many of the social puritans needed something to bring public opinion back on the side of "family values". Same thing is happening here I think. Good distraction from real issues by screaming on that old family values cliche.
