Blogging - Why I do it. Why do you?

As I'm getting my head around outlining my first few posts here, I thought maybe I'd strike up a conversation about blogging, as far as why I wanted to start doing it, and maybe find out why other people do, and see if some of our reasons match up, or if I could learn a new opinion or two.
Why I started blogging:
1. People change. I know I have in the last few years. And sometimes, I wish I could go back and review my thought process and how I viewed the world. I think having an archive of your thoughts, opinions, and experiences is a pretty cool thing. And it's even cooler seeing how other people reacted to them. I think it helps the development of a person - or at last is a valuable thing to be able to look back on.
2. Common Interests. I want to be able to reach people that share interests with me! And maybe even discover a few more! What better way to learn about yourself than to express yourself and be exposed to the expression of others?
3. Growing as a writer. I think the nonfiction of life is just as helpful in writing as the fiction. I think blogging will help be become a better writer in general, as I'm sure most of you can vouch for.
Some questions I have for you:
1. What made you start blogging?
2. Why do you blog now?
3. Did you ever think you would become a blogger?
4. What do you blog about and why?
Just some things I'm curious to know about the fellow members of myLot. Do you blog to take the place of a diary? Do you blog to gain insight? Or is it to just share your knowledge and opinions on whatever it may be?

@SometimesINovel MyLot is not my main site. Apart from Wikinut the others are more specialised.

Wow. Four sites? That's crazy. I'm just trying to see if I can keep up with this one!

I find blogging here has replaced writing in a journal. I love to hand write as opposed to type, but I'm online and can get feedback this way. I still pick up my journal once in awhile. Sometimes I really need to vent in an uncensored way.

Definitely. I sometimes write letters that I never send when I need to vent. But I still think I might get an actual journal again.

Really? What do you consider yourself to be?

@SometimesINovel I don't really consider myself to be in any defined group.
For me a blog seems to be a personal online diary. I don't use this site for that, I just write whatever I feel like at the time, just hoping that there will be something there that others can discuss.
I also do anecdotes from my childhood, poems etc.

I see. For me, blogging isn't like a diary at all. I feel that would be much too personal to put out there like this unless I was trying to make a point about something. For me, blogging is a way to share my knowledge, experience, and opinions on things, hoping to relate to the people that take the time to read, and maybe strike up a discussion.
