At one time or another we were all new at myLot

Each time we try a new food, buy a different book or join a new website we are starting over, we are new. And sometimes new is a little confusing. Depending on the food you try you may or may not like it. Same with the book. Now when it comes to websites there isn't one that will 'fit' everyone. You join a new site like myLot and the first thing that happens is that you are confused. Why? Because its is different from XYZ site. Well, when you joined XYZ site it was new to you and you got adjusted to it (or not). It didn't become familiar in a day or two it took some time. The same thing here at myLot. It is only different, it isn't difficult. Once you spend some time here learning your way around, you will see how easy it really is. Is it perfect? No, but what is? This is a social site that earns you pennies. This isn't a site that you can earn enough money to pay the bills. If your goal is to have fun and earn a little on the side than this is the place for you. So if you are new and confused, take some time to learn your way around and then determine if you stay or go. Give it half a chance and you might hang around for years! Photo: pixabay.com/en/training-difference-beautiful-832161/

I remember my first day here, I did not know what to do, I looked around and it took a full day to discover where to find the rules and how to post a discussion. I am glad I stayed, because I love myLot.

@AbbyGreenhill I joined the 17th of August and for the first couple of weeks I did very little.

I think we started the same day and I'm sure I did a lot of snooping that first day also. I didn't spend much time here the first month and a half as I was still active at PP.

I have never been able to earn a little on the side. I can't see the screen straight from that angle and find that the best way to myLot is sitting down

This is true for me I enjoy the conversations more since am able even to learn about other peoples culture and also this site keeps you busy like when in traffic anyway the part where you get to earn something is great but for me money is not an issue.

Yes we do learn a lot about other people and cultures. Sometimes we find out we are more than same than we are different.

I am glad this site came back in pay mode. I can't contribute much time to something that doesn't pay. After you have had ones that pay it's hard to spend time on one that doesn't.

I stayed at one a year ago that stopped paying - said they would start then went belly up. Never again.

Great advice. No not confused but I when I recently noticed that one of the mylotters later put their avatar up and used their real name, it then reminded me of sites from yesteryear where I could "see" and know more about the person, which helps me respond better.

@AbbyGreenhill not verbatim but something I can attach a face and natural sounding name is best or one or the other for me anyway, but I don't mind the creative names.. . Of course, you have a point, How would one know I guess it would take a psychic

Well said - I don't like it when newbies come on and the first thing they ask is 'how much do you earn?' As you say, this is primarily a social site.

You are right the site did take some getting used to for me, I do other sites, so used to their way. but like anything else. you either like it or you don't. No site will earn you big bucks to retire on , but put extra pennies in your account, which I call fun money or bill money.

I call it fun money also. I know there are some who need the money they make here and that's fine as long as they realize this is not a get rick easy place.

That's true. It's surprising how quickly one can get used to a site. But having been on the infamous BB site did help me at the beginning. It was also good to see one's old friends again who could help.

Good job! I agree....all of us were new and confused at some point. I do think people hold on to the idea of becoming a millionaire (or even a thousand-aire online) without realizing the work that is put into just earning a few dollars. Good post!

Being taken 'out of your comfort zone' is a very good saying I think as that is exactly how it is. We get used to this, that and the other but once it changes a bit, we're not quite so comfortable.

It takes time to adjust to anything. That's why the newbies need to test the waters before saying it's not for them.
