Is it normal for a 5 year old to get headaches?

I don't remember getting them when I was that young, but lately our son has been getting headaches, followed by stomach upset. I worry it could be migraines even though I have to think that would be unusual for a child. We're going to see a doctor, but if someone out there could ease my worries and tell me this isn't that weird I'd appreciate it!

My nephew complains of headaches sometimes as well. Us adults get them, so why can't kids get them? Don't even worry about it

If the headaches are occasional..I wouldn't worry about it..if they come more frequently..like once a week..then I would take him to the pediatrician. Children can get migraines..but it could also be caused by other factors. Always best to rule things out.

alot of parents don't understand about children's headaches...sometimes they can be due to lack of sleep...or he may be being picked on in school and it could be stress related..my daughter was always having stomach aches and headaches through her first year of school..come to find out it was phycological she was so worried about what the others thought of her it was down right making her sick. Try talking to him and letting him know that he dosen't have to be popular to be liked and each person marches to the beat of a different drum.
