A Portal To.....

This discussion is supposed to resurrect a challenge that I issued on the old Bubblews writing site. @MarshaMusselman remembered the photograph that started it all. Feel free to use the image I am providing, just please credit the image to me. There was an old decommissioned school several blocks from my home. During the several years we lived nearby there were numerous attempts by vandals to torch the school, but the video surveillance cameras and the working smoke alarms always brought the fire department before the fire could catch a firm hold. Eventually the owners decided that tearing the structure down was their best option to prevent serious injury. Each morning and evening I would drive past to see their progress in the demolition. Finally all that was left were some piles of rubble and the standing entrance to the school. This eerie archway gave me the idea to issue a challenge. Where does this portal lead? You are limited only by your imagination. Please use the tag: a portal to, in the tag line of your discussion so it can be easily located. Be creative. Have fun.

This image reminds me when I was only a very little girl, the ruins in my city at the end of WWII. This portal brings in a town where the war has just finished.

@LadyDuck but with a portal, you could change the setting...going from a warn torn community to a uptopian setting.

I remember doing this challenge on Bubblews, but what I wrote there was just relevant to Bubblews, as far as I recall.

Maybe you can recreate your response. I don't have any of the posts I wrote concerning the portal. When asked about it I went in search of the photograph. I have most of the photos I set aside for use on Bubblews.

You are welcome to your own interpretation, if you decide to participate. I know on Bubblews we had a few really unique stories centred on this portal.

@Morleyhunt It is a great prompt as there are a hundred avenues you could go down. Maybe I'll have to have a go after all! :)

A lot of destruction behind it. The way it looks now, I'll say it's a portal to the next world war. I hope your town finds a way to keep the arch. Wouldn't it look nice as a portal to a beautiful garden.

Ah, but once you have passed through the portal you would be somewhere else....maybe a tropical island, possibly a mountain top, the past, the future.....there are just so many possibilities. The arch was gone a few days after the photograph was taken. I believe the stone....Public School is now at the museum.

Ruins and abandoned buildings are fascinating! They have such stories to tell! Let me think on it a bit and see if my imagination stirs!

I had done a couple of possibilities when writing on Bubblews. I issued the challenge at the request of another mylotter and thought I would give a brief background before actually submitting a discussion with some of the possibilities. You will need to wait for me to write my next piece.......The earliest will be tomorrow morning.

Maybe you could use this portal to write about a visit. The portal could work both ways.
