Ayurveda, herbal medicine, acupressure, acupuncture, Tai Chi etc. are all examples of alternative medicine. Which one of these have you actually tried for yourself or for a member of your family? I have tried herbal medicine. For cough i just go to my garden very early in the morning and pick seven leaves of Lagundi plant (vitex negundo ) Its very effective for cough and for a lot of other ailments. My late mother used to chew Gotu Kola leaves. I remember i used to tease her that she looked like a goat with leaves sticking out of her mouth. Tai Chi is also very effective in treating my left shoulder pains. Doing Tai Chi with a painful shoulder was like torture but i kept on doing it every morning until the pain disappeared and i regained the use of my left shoulder. I still do Tai Chi to improve my balance and to prevent osteo arthritis. How would you react if someone would suggest that you try alternative medicine to heal an ailment? Attached is a photo of my mothers Gotu Kola plant.

My father also tried alternative medicine , when he came to know he has prostate cancer . He was made to do two kinds of detoxification everyday . One in the morning and one in the evening . They are the coffee enema and the one with lemon . Also he took some probiotics . Now , his cancer is gone .

I like yoga for exercise and for meditation. My wife has taken Tai Chi for over four years and it has improved her strength and balance tremendously. Tai Chi is being used extensively to help with balance for victims of Parkinson's disease too.

Yes they are very effective. One good example of an herbal medicine is the moringa tree. Its leaves are very effective in healing cuts and wounds among many other beneficial uses.

@mammots In olden days it was said in my place the best doctors were grandmothers though they were mostly illiterate. They knew so many home remedies, delivered babies and wonderful cooks too. I knew one person who was supposed to be a healer of many illnesses and he used plants and mixed the leaves by pounding them into a paste. He used to collect them but said he would pass on his knowledge only to those who were really deserving but I heard he never found one - siva

Acupressure and acupuncture are very good for some ailments. I dob´t think that they cure everything, the same way that I don´t thinks there´s any medicine that will cure all.

The ancient Chinese used these to heal some of their ailments. I'm sure its proven to be effective but i agree that there is no treatment that will cure all.

When I injured my neck at one point I tried alternative medicines and for one they were very expensive and two they did not alleviate my pain. The ONLY pain relief I found was faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as He is the Healer and Great Physician. I had 4 neck surgeries and was on a ton of medicine. At a praise and worship celebration I had my hands in the air in surrender worshipping God and all the sudden this warmth went from my head to my feet and all the pain stopped and went dancing and leaping and praising God. I still have to stand in faith that He healed me if the pain comes, as nothing else works.

I have never tried alternative medicine. But when I am sick (flu), I drink a lot of juice and eat oranges.

Eating oranges and juicing are better alternatives to taking food supplements such as vitamin C tablets etc.

For your back pains i suggest you try doing tai chi. The movements are very slow and very easy to follow and it helps a lot in healing body pains. Try to search for tai chi tutorial videos on you tube.

My reaction would be that for 80 years I have followed what I call 'real' medicine with great results I'll stick with it!

I had a big laugh about your mother. I tried Tai Chi for the fun of it once in China. I use herbal medications, but usually wind up getting prescription meds from my doctor. Glad yours work so well.

You only go to the doctor if and when you have money thats the sad part. Thats the reason why herbal medicine and other alternative medicine or alternative forms of healing are now very popular because they are cheap and are available even in the kitchen as seasoning for food or as a weed in the garden. Soro-soro here in my city is a cactus that is sometimes used as a hedge to fence off our gardens.
