Are you a fashionable person that has different clothes for every season? I was a hairdresser for so many years and always wore uniforms. That was the days when uniforms were required by the salons. Now things have changed and people wear whatever they want. In one way this is good as you don't always look the same but on the other hand, the uniforms save on your clothing. I noticed that with dentists and doctors too. If I go to a new place and see someone new, I have no idea who they are and start talking to them. Do you think they should go back looking more professional?

I can understand wearing uniforms as a hairdresser because it would save on clothing and you wouldn't ruin nice clothes.

@ramapo17 I didn't think about the permanent wave solution, that is not a nice aroma to have in your clothes.

@simone that is true as I use to get hair dye on myself and the permanent wave lotion smell stays in the clothes forever.

@simone10 You are right. It really smelled bad and would say in the car for awhile.

I've not had a uniform since I was a Saturday girl in a store whilst I was at school. But some days I wish I could get up and not have to think about what to wear.

@boiboing I never thought about how easy it was to get dressed as we didn't have to think about anything and matching accessories.

I think that uniforms are helpful to service providers and the clients. If I could wear a uniform to work, it would save me so much money.

@Dalane you are right as far as saving money plus the clothes you would have for different occasions would stay in good shape longer.
