Delightful Delicacy or Just Plain YUCK

I just read a discussion in which the poster was talking about coffee made with cat or elephant feces. Apparently this is very expensive coffee. This does not sound at all appetizing to me. Along the same lines, while I was at work the other day, a co-worker mentioned that they had once tasted scorpions and also some sort of bugs. This is another thing I would not be bold enough to try. Just the thought makes my stomach churn. My youngest son has the occasional habit of asking for exotic foods such as octopus or squid. Once again, I would have to say, YUCK! Are you bold enough to try exotic or unusual foods? Or, do you have a weak stomach like me?

I've tried that coffee. It was a special treat that someone else paid for. I would love to have it again; it was very good coffee. But very expensive. As Owlwings has explained it is not made from feces. I am pretty much willing to try anything.

I've heard of that coffee, it's called luwak in the Southeast Asian region. Here in the Philippines, it's called kape alamid. Alamid is the Filipino term for the palm civet that "produces" that kind of coffee.
I'm the kind of person who'd like to try exotic food. It's part of culture learning for me, especially when I go to different places. My mindset is that if the locals eat these delicacies on an everyday basis, then it's edible.
PS: Squid tastes good. Just cook it well so that it doesn't feel tough or rubbery when eaten.

Actually the coffee isn't made from 'feces'. There are civet cats which eat coffee berries and the hard part of the berry - the coffee bean - is passed out undigested and can then be collected, washed clean and roasted in the normal way. I haven't tried Kopi Luwak but I don't doubt that it's very much like any other coffee.
I never heard of elephants eating coffee berries but I could imagine that they would - along with most of the rest of the tree, of course. I have seen paper made from elephant poo and it is quite acceptable and doesn't smell.
I think that I would try most things but the texture of some things puts me off. I have eaten kalimari (squid) but I didn't like the texture. My son once tried sea urchin and described it as rather jelly-like, so I think that it wouldn't be for me.

Doesn't matter if it isn't technically poo, if it came out of someone, or some thing's, butt, along with the poo, I'm not eating it, cleaned or not.

@Dreamer93 Some people don't eat eggs for that reason, I believe!
