Writer's block Hell

I want to write. I need to write after all that is the way I make my money. But, the ideas are just not coming. Even after looking through a book of ideas. The words just don't want to be put down on paper. I have been writing a bunch of stuff hoping that is will help. I don't know, why I just can't come up with the words to write articles. I am stuck in writer's block hell. Have any of you ever had ideas to write about but the words just don't come to you?

I find that the easiest way to become inspired is to look at my pictures. very picture tells a story, as they say, so pick one and tell us about it--who is in it, where it was taken, the story behind it. You'll probably get a very interesting post out of every single photo you have!

Like you, if I need to start writing and nothing or words does not seem to come freely, what I do is I write down the words that I want to include or discuss in my writings. Then I will get back to my list later and see how I will be able to mesh the words and see how the flow is.

@whiteream I find this useful only for creative writing. But if I have to do some writing for work, I find this not really helpful.

I understand. I always go through that kind of situation so that i end up with nothing but giving my mind some rest.

I am starting to think that just walking away and resting is the best thing to do when this happens.

When I have days like that, I usually don't post anything. Normally, I can find something to write about the next day.

@whiteream my trick is to start writing about something. Then if I pick up an idea from the present idea I jot it down separately and once I finish with one article I start the other and usually for me in this way several articles build up. Another good thing is pick up ideas from commenting or from things that are going around you at the moment. Anyway the ideas to to play with several ideas and build up on them.

I go through my photos or check out the news. Photos always work for me but I'm not sure what writing you need to be doing.

pictures are a good idea for places like MyLot but, I am trying to write a couple articles and nothing is coming to mind. I think, I need a break or something. But, when I try to take a break. I end up looking for different places to write.

@whiteream,You are not alone,my friend,to have this problem.I too have been suffering from it.I like to write posts on my own experiences.I have a lot of ideas, but often it becomes almost impossible for me to put them down in the form of a discussion.I think, writer's block is caused by mental fatigue.I may be wrong though.

@whiteream I am in a hurry to hit the payout asap. And perhaps this hurry has been creating the so called 'writer's block' for me.Every time I ponder over the problem, the conclusion I reach is that I should take rest.

I think you should do something completely different for a while (clean the house from top to bottom?!) and not force yourself. When you've relaxed, your thoughts will flow back.

I did last year, when my Muse was on hiatus. Meditation helped clear my mind, even if it was for 5 minutes and 30 outdoors. You should try it.

@whiteream You're welcome. I did it at home for 5 minutes and then I did walking meditation, when I did it twice last year. I went to the river downtown and just meditate by listening to the streaming water. It worked. Yoga's great, too.

Writers block is common. Look around you for inspiration. Often simple things inspire great stories.

Trust me, I'm WAY too familiar with that feeling. Try doing exactly what you did here. Write about having writer's block, and maybe you'll attract a readership of other writers going through the same thing. I love to write, so when I'm stuck, I try sitting down and writing a short story or poem about the perfect topic... writer's block itself! Good luck!

I think there is such a thing as writer burnout. I know I have experienced it. You need to get away from it for a couple of days and just do whatever you think might be fun. Walk, get together with friends, go to a movie or whatever. Just don't think about it for a short time. Suddenly, you will be ready to write volumes again.

I guess we all get that from time to time. You might find it useful to have a little notebook to jot down things when you remember then when you are stuck you can look at your little list and tick them off when you have written about them?

I have a lot of ideas, problem is a lot of them suck. They also like to gum up the works. My advice for dealing with writer's block is to take a day or two off - no more - and hopefully everything will jostle back into place. If that doesn't work, nail yourself to a chair and don't leave until you write something.
