Do you "auto pay" your bills?

I don't like auto pay because I always fear they are going to overcharge me or something. I like manually paying every bill. Do you use auto pay when paying your bills? Have you ever had any issues with it?

I've had several issues with auto pay. Companies are guilty of usually running your money through after you are done with the service, and won't stop. I've been double-charged, over-charged, had excess accounts that were not mines charged. Companies take too long to remedy the situation also.

You're right. It's ridiculous how if you mess up with a payment or something they are very hard on you but if they mess up they just take their time and sometimes never fix the problem completely!

Yeah I've heard of that happening and I fear it happening to me so that's why I don't like the "auto pay".

No do not because I do not want some money taken out when I do nothave funds to cover it so I manually pay on line instead.

I agree with you, I want control of what comes out of my account that way I only have myself to blame if something stupid happens.

We have electronic payments set up. We do not autopay our bills though, the reason it is normally impossible to get you money back if you overpay.

I usually pay my bills online. My husband does the same. We go on to our online accounts and pay online. I don't quite feel comfortable doing the whole "auto pay" thing. I'd much prefer do it myself.

I actually have it into my credit card to get charged automatically every month. So far I did not get any issues with it.

No, I always pay it every month. I find some auto pay they claim to take it out say the 1st they are either early or late.

@Bellatricks That is how I see it. I have had a few times where they took it out too early then didn't have enough for another bill.

We call it 'direct debit' here in the UK, and yes I use it. It's so convenient and you don't have to worry that you will forget to pay. I've done it for decades and never had the slightest problem with it. You just have to make sure that you have the funds to cover it.

I did it once for my utility bill last month for the paper-less option. But with a surcharge fee now being included in the payment, I went back to paper via mail. I tried to do it for the automatic pay option to pay my monthly rent, when I first moved, 1.5 years ago. But I had issues with it and pay by check now.

@Bellatricks I know. It was an extra 2 dollars and thirty cents for a processing fee. That doesn't sound right to me.

It makes no sense what gets a surcharge and what doesn't. My phone was trying to give me $10 off if I went with auto pay but I wasn't going to bite.

@Reine25 We have it here. You just need to enroll your bills to your bank account for autodebit agreement.

@Reine25 You can inquire to your bank branch. Then you have to sign an autodebit form so the amount will be debited from your account every due date.

I have used online banking before, and I didn't like it. I still worried about the check getting to them on time. I have a couple things set up with companies that take the money out of my account each month and that works for me, for bills that are the same amount each month. The rest I prefer to go to the bill site and pay myself, I'm able to print out a receipt right there and know that usually by the end of business that my account is square. I don't like that so many of my utility companies charge a fee, or I should say the third party they have taking the money charges a fee. So the water company third party charges a $1.50 to pay online, etc... I wish that the bills were all the same amount each month and life would be so much easier.

I don'tlike to auto pay my bills as I want to totally control my bank issues. I don't mind paying the bills by myself. If I am afraid I will pay for it on time, I will set a reminder so that I will not miss it.

I do pay some bills online. I always use the one time payment option even though I pay every month. I know of people who were charged twice and their accounts bounced because they needed to pay a different bill with the overcharge. Basically, when it comes to money and payments, I don't trust anyone.
