Do you prefer a night out or staying at home?

When I was younger, I would feel like some kind of social failure if I didn't have a hot appointment for a Friday and/or Saturday night. As I grow older, the idea of a hot soaky bath followed by curling up on the sofa in my PJs in front of a DVD with a glass of wine by my side and a cat on my lap seems like my idea of heaven. Conversely, getting dressed up and going out seems more like a chore than a pleasure.
Fortunately my husband has similar anti-social tendencies and is quite happy to start a fire in our wood burning stove and crack open a bottle of wine rather than worry over booking taxis and getting reservations in a restaurant.
For me it's probably less attractive to go out because I'm effectively 'out' most of the week. I am usually not at home more than 3-4 nights a week and I eat a lot of restaurant food, usually at somebody else's expense. Consequently I'm less inclined to want to do run around much at the weekend.
If friends or family invite you out do you jump at the chance or try to think up a good excuse to get out of a night on the town?

Since I retired, I prefer to go out in the afternoon. This way the traffic is lighter and the shops, restaurants, etc. are less crowded too.

@Apreld This way, staff is not as busy and you get more personal attention.

At this point in life, since my days are very busy, I prefer nights at home with a book or movie. In part that is because during days I tend to see extreme situations and at times, well, a break at home is welcomed.

Same thing for me. When I was young and full of energy I loved to go out. However now that I am old I would much rather stay at home!

To be fair, even when I was younger, I'd usually fall asleep on the couch wherever I went.

It wasn't until I became an adult {and quite an old one, late twenties} that I realised it was actually okay to not want to go out. As an introvert with anxiety and shyness, there is nothing worse to me than being out in a busy place. I prefer weeknights, and even then it has to be meticulously planned. But at least I don't feel the need to excuse the way I am anymore, or put on a brave face and lump it! I'm a real little homebody, and Husband isn't much more social so all is happy here. :)

We much prefer to stay in. We are 30 minutes from any good restaurants and then one of us can't have a drink anyway as we have to drive. We're much more likely to have friends over for a simple meal and sit and chat. Sometimes they'll even sleep over if they have a way to drive.

Most of my friends have moved out of town. So my outings have considerably reduced over the past year. I love being socially active.

We much prefer staying in and being comfortable. Neither of us were ever big on going out. Have a blessed day.

I don't jump at any invite out. I like to stay home. I don't like crowds and have social anxiety. I used to enjoy going out for a nice dinner but not anymore.
