How many people would write for 100 dollars an article?

If you were offered 100 dollars to write just one article what would it be? I know that the most I've ever earned for a single article for an online writing site was about 9.00 US back in the days of Yahoo! Contributor Network, and a friend of mine from a long time ago, who no longer associates with me because I left him in Washington State as I wanted to go back to Dallas and he wanted to remain with the people there. So He wrote occasional articles for the Dallas Morning News, like letters to the editor and he earned $35.00 for each article. He was good with words. I wonder if anyone has ever earned $100 dollars for one single article or came close to this amount?

@AbbyGreenhill , yes there is emotional pressure to get a job done in a time frame. Deadlines can make you feel worn out and diffused. Casual writing is a way to pass the time creatively and to enjoy it in and of itself but the few pennies are just icing on the cake I reckon.

So you know a lot about pets. This is a good thing for you to know so it might help you writing future articles about this subject.

Back in those ancient days of print before the internet, aspiring writers had to submit typewritten article via post to publications. The most I ever made for a single article was probably $50. That was a hard, hard game filled with rejection.

Someone wrote an article in a writer's magazine. He said to follow the rule of 12, that is to keep at least 12 submissions in circulation at all times. I decided to do it and started selling to magazines. Then life happened and interrupted me for years. The rule of 12 does work, though.

Well, John Roberts, you earned 50 dollars once. Let's hope you can do it again in some other method. Do you fancy yourself story teller, a blogger or free lance writer?

@akalinus But I don't think I would take on an article writing job on something I knew nothing about. Sure, I could do research, and sometimes that's easy enough but I find it hard not to plagiarize that way. I would rather use my own thoughts and experiences. I was asked to speak on a topic of my choosing at an RCIA meeting at church. RCIA are people who are studying to become Catholics. I looked at the topics and declined saying that I wasn't comfortable doing it. I read at church, I read my writing at writing group, but writing and speaking about religion, I'm not as knowledgeable as I should be for a Christian.

There's sites that offer 100 per article but of course it isn't that simple. Earning that sum isn't easy to find but is possible. They would require a writer to put in maximum effort and approximately 1000 words or more. We're still growing.

@akalinus. I could see The Content Authority paying in that range, they haven't accepted new writer for at least a year. Also, I wrote a post about Mywriter recently, this site sells "curated copy" and other terms I didn't recognize. They weren't accepting appliations either, to my knowledge. There's real money to be made, I don't think I'm there yet.

I think the most I've made for a post was about $2 back on Bubblews. But I have made a couple hundred by selling a story.

I made well over $100.00 on a single piece that I posted to Associated Content - it was about how to make cupcakes healthier. When I saw the starts after a week I thought it was an error or glitch but it wasn't. Even when the amount went over $100.00 I just shook my head and said, "Until it gets paid via Paypal, I am not going to beleive it". It did get paid and after that I kept chasing that 'high' of writing unique pieces that could actually help someone.

@maezee , well some do but not necessarily always. I mean, I have sent letters to the editor and got the shaft. So It all depends on if the newspaper offers money for letters to the editor. In my friend's case it was back in the 70's and he wrote an occasional letter to the editor of The Dallas Morning News. These days it may be different as far as earning money for offering your 2 cents so don't get too excited. You need to find out if there is an offer put out there before you get your hopes up.

If you want you might try writing letters to the editor of your favorite news paper. My friend used to do this on occasion and earned about $35.00 an article. He was an exceptional writer and a good friend. Give it a try.

I have not earned that much--but I have earned as much as $42 and $50 for some legal articles that I have written--and more for some scholarly legal articles that I wrote on the Australian constitution--finding a niche is thee key I think!

Never came close to that yet. When I wrote for a weekly newspapers I made $30-$60 for feature stories. The most I've been paid for writing content is $15.
Good discussion topic.

I did get paid for some up front articles on Yahoo. I think $15 was about average. I sold a garden story to a magazine and got $56 and two different newspapers sent me $25 each for an article. Also sold a couple of articles to Fate Magazine. Have not been that active writing because I always let my weird life get in the way.

I have never earned that much yet for a single article.
If I were to write, maybe it will be about gadgets. I used to write reviews of new phones for a site.

Be positive and it might just happen to you. Good writing requires acceptance of failure but willingness to succeed.
