Here is a poem that I wrote and published several years ago. Please feel free to share your thoughts.
Evolution
The little boy is happy
He smiles alone at play
No worries of tomorrow
He lives but for today
Time moves along the boy we see
In school with book and pen
A change is wrought within him
He learns the ways of men
The years pass on a man we see outside a chapel door
Beside stands his lovely bride-We need to look no more
Though to manhood grown now
Tis the boy we knew before
Old time takes on a faster pace
And when we look again
A fine and prosperous man we see
Revered by fellow men
But now we take a deeper look
We hear the great man sigh
Oh for the fun and frolic
I knew when just a boy
The tide of time moves swiftly by
Rolls on from year to year
The man we see is bent with age
His face is worn with care
Once more atop the stage of life
We watch the curtain fall
We’ve looked upon the life of man
And viewed the fate of all
Ashes to ashes dust to dust
We hear the good man say
And is there more–man must be more
Than just a piece of clay
We look upon a new born babe
And ask what was before
We look upon a dying man
And know there must be more
As actors on the stage of time
We’ve many a part to play
When every jot and tittles paid
We will not need the clay
For man must soar to higher heights
All things to him be shown
Until at last we understand
And know as we are known
