Dishin Out Sum Vigilante Justice

At times, ordinary folk take some much needed law enforcement in their own hands.
1984: Gary Plauche shot and killed his 11 year old son's kidnapper and molester at the Metro Airport. He received probation and hours of community service. Gary's son, now an adult, works to raised awareness for sexual abuse.
2013: 23 year old Texas dad catches 47 year old molester in the act of sexual assaulting his 5 year old daughter and beats him to death. Court justifies deadly force in order to stop a sexual assault. The man was not charged and set free.
These fathers did what every parent would feel like doing. Would you do the same if it was your child? If you were the judge, would you let those fathers who carried out vigilante justice off the hook?

Let's say the molester was proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. What would be your answer?

I'm glad that we're on the same page. Every state should adopt these laws.

If I were a judge and a Dad or Mom came to me saying they killed someone to defend or rescue their child, I would let them off the hook @Ladypeace .

Yes, I'm glad you'd do that. I can't even start to imagine how the father felt when he walked in on that abhorrent scene. The rage and fury of a parent to protect their child knows no bounds.

If you walked in on someone assaulting your child what would you do?

Oh yeah, the creeps got what they deserved and I'm glad the judges were on the side of the good guys @Ladypeace .

True, those scums got everything they deserved. We need laws like this everywhere.

Yes I would and yes I would, because that person will do this over and over and over to many more children. That behavior never changes.

I'm proud of you for saying that! Those scumbags are the vilest of vile and could deserve worst.

Making a hypothetical decision about this is easy for some and not so for others.

If I was the child I would be proud of my parent who had attacked the assailant. That's just my view.

I would have done the same. Totally justified.

This makes me glad. It's what every parent would do and I'm satisfied that the vigilante dads won't be facing any charges.

Your fears are justified because mistakes do occur and an eye for an eye is not the only solution.

I think each case merits careful consideration. I feel pain for the parents and victims but the laws are in place for an orderly society. Human response of what happens when catching people in the act must be considered when protecting your family.

In these cases, the fathers got off the hook. However, it's only fair for the law to examine every case thoroughly.
