Roses are Red, but for how long?

I'm sure a lot of people were given red roses this Valentine's Day. I was one of them. But it is such a rare thing for my husband to surprise me with flowers that it makes them that much more special. I wish they would stay red and blooming forever. I feel like I should enjoy them to the fullest before they wilt, but they are roses. I can't exactly hug them. I can just water them regularly and use flower food, and even then, they will not stay in bloom for more then a couple of weeks. What should I do? How can I use them in a permanent way? Potpourri? :/

Is that your photo of them? A picture is an excellent way of remembering them.

Yes, that is the photo :) I always make sure to take a lot of photos of things, just to make a memory of them.

Roses are beautiful but they do not last long. My husband used to buy me roses, but I told him I like Carnations better because they stay fresh for a much longer time.

The last time my husband bought me roses was last year on Valentine's, when we were just engaged and living in different countries. He really is not the type to buy his wife flowers, just because. So it is something I like to savor. I would personally love any kind of flowers, but because it was Valentine's, he felt red roses would be the most appropriate.

I don't know what can be done to keep cut flowers permanently. Some people press them, but I don't know how well that works. Taking a picture is all I can think of.

Take a pic and save it, it will keep reminding you the lovely gesture he made. You will always cherish it.
