Aching Feet

I work in the medical field and literally walk almost 6 miles a day. I wear tennis shoes that are about a year and a half old. They are nike memory foam shoes. I dont know if i have worn them out or what, but everyday i come home barely able to walk up my front steps because of how badly my feet and hips hurt. Last night i slept with my feet elevated and a heating pad under my hips. Sweet relief, but only for a short while. Any recommendations for a girl whos feet are killing her?

You may want to visit a "real" shoe store, or a uniform store that sells shoes designed for people who are on their feet all day. Either of those places will be able to provide you with footwear that should help bring you relief.

I know how difficult it can be. Sometimes just soaking my feet seems to help.

You might need a new pair of shoes. What helps me is soaking my feet in hot water.

6 miles a day is very impressive and I complained having to walk across a concrete parking lot 4 days a week. I have a variety of shoes so mine don't wear out so fast, but if you are wearing one pair of shoes for a year and a half, that is too long, you probably need to replace your shoes. If that doesn't help, you might want to see a doctor. When it got to the point where walking was getting harder and the pain unbearable, I looked up symptoms online and saw that I could have Plantar Fasciitis. I didn't have insurance for a while, so I did what I could and once I got insurance, I went to a doctor who confirmed it. Now I am doing exercises and getting an insert for my shoes as well as finding out what kind of shoes I need.

Birkenstocks! They are the best thing that I have ever worn on my feet and they make shoe style now too. If they don't have something acceptable for at work you can get the insoles as well which work amazingly.

It's a shame your feet are hurting so much. Would it help to give them a soak in something?
