Have We Not Learned?

Syria is at war for more than 5 years and it's due to a dictator that doesn't want to vacate his presidency. Since it became extensive, Russia came in to assist the dictator, only to blunder than help. Now the rest of the world is involved.
Yemen is at war as the south wants secession from the current government since time. When war broke out Saudi Arabia came in to reinforce the current government to repel the rebellious south.
The war is now being justified in the name of democracy along with the call of human rights and freedom. Yet, I wonder if everyone realized that the crucial entity - peace is missing and that people especially innocent civilians are being killed almost everyday.
Democracy? Look at Libya who had just removed their so called dictator Gaddafi and voted in a new government. But is the country peaceful?
In the name of independence or democracy, I don't think everyone is wondering at what is the true meaning of it? Where is the peaceful diplomacy to resolve issues? Where is the common sense or civility?
Sadly all I can say is this, when the first shot rang out we've have failed what we learned and failed those who had sacrificed their lives for us yesterday.

How can that be democracy? When the dictator stays whether that is what the people want or not? How much do the other countries have to do with it all too? Ugh! Why can't these idiots get a long? It's like a bunch of children quarreling constantly.

You know what, what these people should do is to get a very large area of land and battle if out there. Like the ancient people do. Gather forces and meet on the battle field. Cities and towns are not battle field and civilians are displaced because of their attacks.

@ghostie2472 ...It is something that has probably been going on for years, even centuries. If they can't agree on this issue how in the world can they agree on a place to do the battle?

True. It's really sad that we do the same thing over and over and over again. The sad part is that if one thing does not benefit a certain person or country, they will just sit on the side and watch.

Only our Creator has the wisdom to govern the humans.. He and his son Christ can bring peace to the earth. In the Bible Jesus is called Prince of Peace.. We have good reasons to wait for the fulfillment of Daniel 2:44..

@artemeis God has used human rulers in the past and has given them instructions to follow, and some of them have done well. But in our time he will make the earth to a peaceful place, yes the whole earth, free from wars. So far all his promises have been fulfilled. If you want proof, why not read jw.org about the new government that the Bible tells us about.

I believe all of us will agree that we are waiting for this day of total peace to arrive and until that day arrives we really need to do our part to keep the peace.

I am sorry but I just cannot fully agree to this path of logic because I believe that there are people who will be equipped with the needed charisma and wisdom to do the job of leading the mass which in turn has the ability to govern a certain place to an entire country.
I do see your point but I am sure your God would have said that there are people whom He has appointed and willed to to do His bidding. So until that eventual day of fulfillment I am quite sure that there will be things to be done and do it well.

Mankind has been fighting and killing since the beginning of time. Peace must come from another source. We who believe in God, keep praying that His time will come soon. "Let your kingdom come."

I'd like to be optimistic and contented if the country is not constantly having bad relations with allies or neighboring countries or are in disagreement with the majority of the citizens

@artemeis Yes, we must respect the ruling powers but we know that they can't bring peace to the earth. We have to wait for God but we need to be peaceful.
Psalm 42:5 New International Version (NIV) 5 Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalm 37:9-11 New International Version (NIV) 9 or those who are evil will be destroyed, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. 10 A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. 11 But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy peace and prosperity.

If there is one thing that we humans have learned from previous conflicts, it's to make the weapons more accurate and devasting.
