What Mylot Could Take From Other Sites

Mylot is certainly doing well and improving all the time. The new layout, currently being tested looks great and more members are tuning in to it by the day. There is still a lot that could improve things though, and much that could be borrowed and cribbed from other sites. 1/. Bubblews made many blunders that made their downfall inevitable but the option to store pages in edit files was great as we could put drafts of articles in preparation there ready to post live later. 2/. Persona Papers had links leading to an author’s previous and next article directly under their submissions which was a great incentive to read more. 3/. A still active site, Wikipedia has a random page finding button, which lets readers make a pot luck search of randomly picked articles old or new which can throw up unexpected gems readers might otherwise never discover. Mylot could use a similar button. 4/. Finally we should benefit more from reads by non-members. My articles have been read and shared on Facebook and Twitter but the readers there can’t add to our likes or comments as members do. It would be a great incentive to sign up for them if they could interact more and it would boost our earnings as well as Mylot itself. Arthur Chappell

You make some good points though I never used that draft option on Bubblews. I keep my articles elsewhere and just copy and paste when I'm ready.

I found them handy for if I had to switch to temporary computers - I could flip them from the draft reserve quickly and use the rest of the time to comment / browse

I don't think draft options will benefit mylot. Easy to store stuff elsewhere.

It seems to me that mylot is fine just as it is and why take ideas from sites that are closed down as there is a reason they are not online any longer and it could just be too much at once.

changes should come gradually rather than all at once - it gives us time to adjust

I think mylot is well placed right now. they don't hand out too much. they divide the earning the right way. so they are going to survive. only thing is that adblockers are going to make it hard to survive for most of the sites.

I do miss drafts, I also wish I had a button I could hit when looking at discussions posted by those I follow to "see all new"

I especially like your last suggestion. If people not on here could read and interact with posts, it would increase interest in the site. We could share our posts and other people's posts on our social media sites. I never heard of this site until a friend messaged me about it.

I'm on Facebook and Twitter. I wished I've used them when I joined last October. Note to self: starting doing it next week ASAP. Nice post, Arthur.

I think the sites you mentioned had their good and bad points. I know, I was a member of them. But I also know that MyLot was around first and I am sure they are aware of things. Just as I am sure they are aware of the sites you mentioned.

I def agree with the last point. The others are valid ideas, but I am not sure if they want to turn this site into a bubbs or PP type of site. They were writing, this is social. My friends read my discussions so it would be nice to get credit for them.

These are all good points. For the moment, I'm loving the larger font and better display of photos.

Number 1 is an option I have mentioned before and one that would really be nice to have. PP had it. Sometimes we get interrupted or just jotting down thoughts and it is nice to have that place to stash works in progress.
