My New Curtains

Who would have thought that something so simple could have made such a difference. Not only do I love them but the new curtains have inspired me to take all the items I don't like off the wall in the dining room. It is starting to look more like a room designed by me and less like a rental. Do you like to make your home feel like your own?

Both my homes look like my own, because they are. Lol! I love the color of your curtains. Anything new is a boost to the senses.

lol Yes I understand, these places are mine too but I have wallpaper in Pennsylvania that I dislike and this house, where do I begin? lol I am taking my time and getting it right plus while we were renting it out I didn't want to do any redecorating.

In my first house I couldn't afford to buy proper curtains and had old sheets up at the windows. When I finally had the money, I loved buying proper ones.

It has been a while since I bought curtains, I use blinds and shades on most of my windows in Connecticut.

Nothing like a new set of curtains to brighten a room. I do enjoy decorating. I like to hit up yard sales in the spring for new decorations. I have found some good deals that way.

You've got to get the place to that home sweet home place, there's nothing else like it. The curtains are pretty and I can see how they would boost your spirits. My husband and I share similar tastes so, decorating our homes has always been a joint pleasure that we've shared.

I've lived in my house for over 40 years, so yes, it does feel like home. It's nice that you are putting your own stamp on with those lovely curtains.

Yes the fact that I bought this home fully furnished made me reluctant to redecorate until I was done renting it out during the winter.

@BelleStarr I guess you'll have more fun in store if you're going to do more redecorating. Is that part of your plan?

My home is my own. I have always been a strong believer in buying and owning my won home rather than pay rent throughout my whole life.

I do own this home as well as two others but I rented this one to others is what I meant by a rental. I didn't really care to redecorate while I was having others renting my house. Now I no longer rent it out so I want to make it feel like its mine. The furniture came with it when I bought it 3 years ago.

We own this home, we rented it out to other people but we have stopped doing that and now will use it ourselves. I was not clear about that in my original post. Sorry.

That's a simple curtain , but it made the room looked classy . Indeed a curtain can really make a room cozy . I have about 5 sets of curtains with different colors . And when i change curtains , the appearance of the room changes also because of it color effect .

Those are divine Belle. I love them, they are so delicate yet so pretty as well. I love curtains but do not have any in this place. I want to put them up, but would need a drill to do so which I dont have. I had a fav pair of long curtains that I gave to my sister when I moved here. I asked her to send them to me, as I cant get them anywhere. She wont. I dont put much stock in this place tho as I never know if it will last..just the way it is for us here.

Sometimes it is just better to wait and see before decorating. Once you are sure you are in a place you will stay there is plenty of time to start making it feel like home. I hope it happens for you soon.

Every bit of my home is done up my way.. there are a few things which I don 't like but I am okay with them as they are in the boys rooms and a painting in the guest room that I don't care for too much.

@BelleStarr Wow, what a drastic change! I can see why you would want to change them as they wouldn't be for me either. I think your new choice would really make the room stand out now.

We left the drapes in the living room when we bought the house because they were made for the bay window and we loved them. The rest of the house is ours. We don't need drapes because of the wilderness behind us. We have shades in the bedrooms. I love love love the look of your drapes.

Yes I do, and I started that when I bought my home, but never got it finished. I still have a lot of walls to paint, and I have paint, but I don't think I have enough. I also need new brushes since I broke one painting my room. Your curtains look very nice.

Back at home in Connecticut I have lots of painting to do, here I won't change the walls since I would have to do the whole house since it is open concept.

@BelleStarr I once had some dark curtains that were also too drab and absorbed the light..too gloomy.

No, what I meant was we rented it out to other people not that I am not the owner. For two winters, we rented our home to snowbirds but from now on we will be staying here in the winter ourselves. That is why I didn't change the curtains before, I wasn't here much for it to bother me.
