Pretty Is as Pretty Does

On Valentine’s Day I wrote a post about buying presents for yourself. It was especially written for those who are unattached, but really works for just about anyone who does not have thoughtful people around. I wrote that this year my Valentine’s Day gift was a collection of mugs.
They arrived yesterday. I had a wide choice of styles. I enjoy the colors and the motto on the four I selected. The other side of each mug has the name of the company, Life Is Good. I buy t-shirts and sweatshirts from them. The mugs are as high quality as their other products.
The mugs are both dishwasher and microwave safe. This will save me a step in making my tea. I won’t have to heat the water and then pour it into a cup anymore. I can heat the water in the cup itself. The inside of each cup has a rich color. This will help avoid the staining I was experiencing when tea sat in white cups. Even straight vinegar would not remove it. But now there is no problem.
I tossed out my old cups. I was sick of them anyway. Now I have brand new cups that cheer me up. This encourages me to drink the green tea that I don’t really enjoy. A squeeze of lemon helps disguise the taste, but drinking from happy cups helps too.
Do you ever trick yourself into doing the right thing? How?

It is, but if it works then great. I can no longer tolerate bubbles. So that would not work for me. I let the container help, since they do not end up in my finicky tummy.

@ElizabethWallace I never could tolerate the bubbles in pop. But I like my ever so light bubbles I can make with the Soda Stream

@ElizabethWallace You are right to take care and do what you can. My mother has osteoporosis, I am lucky I do not have this problem.

I have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, so anything I can do to build bone I do.

@LadyDuck I have done all of the things I have been told will avoid getting it, and avoided those which cause it, but I'm over 50, female, small boned and Caucasian. Oh, well.

That is a nice way to break the monotony of life - chucking out old cups and going for something new. I like ti.

Wish I liked tea. I drink it because it is good for my bones, otherwise, ick.

Thats nice to treat yourself from time to time! Pretty colours are bound to cheer you up. I can not think of anything I have to disguise to eat or drink. If it is that bad I won't eat/ drink it.

@garymarsh6 I drank green tea yesterday out of one of the cups. Distracted me from the flavor.

Good for you. I need to drink green tea to help my wimpy bones. People who drink it three or more times per week have 30% fewer broken bones. Good numbers.

Love your mugs. I have way to many mugs, I do need to throw some out, they don't fit in my cabinets anymore.

@ElizabethWallace I have not heard good things about goodwill, the people in charge keep much of the money made with the donations. So I think maybe the Salvation Army.

@Asylum Why not? I used to have both in my house, and fine china. My husband broke two pieces, my daughter zero (and she cleared off the table each meal) and I broke none.

If she had kids or a husband, many of them probably ended up broken.

Thanks. I have been pretty lucky in the last few years. Pantene has chosen colors that I like as their colors of the year. I am stocking up, since I know this streak of good luck may not continue.

The two I had were not marked, so I was concerned about putting them in either the dishwasher or microwave. These work in either.

It sounds like you made a good decision with those mugs. I do like the taste of green tea, but Anne also picked up some Jasmine green tea at Trader Joe's which has quite a different taste.

@ElizabethWallace I like Earl Grey, English and Irish Breakfast teas and drink some Sleepytime tea every night. Oh, and a whole lot of ice tea in hot weather.

@JamesHxstatic Too bad we have no control over our taste buds. I would like to enjoy tea and coffee, but find the flavor of both really icky. You are pretty lucky.

I drink the green since it has the biggest benefit for bones. If it didn't, I would skip tea, don't really enjoy it at all.

I love your cups. Life is Good makes such charming products. I actually love green tea, so I don't have an issue drinking it ... but the cups are a good idea for someone who doesn't like it.

Yeah Valentines Day can be a bummer if you are unattached. I think it is a good idea to treat yourself specially on that day, but why leave it as a day? It should be an everyday thing. I think we need to demonstrate love for ourselves before others can really.

I am a practical person. I am careful not to overdo anything, especially spending money. My huge splurge is living on the coast in South Orange County. It is uber-expensive, but the air is clean, the weather lovely and I have a view of the coast from Dana Point to San Diego. Nice.

If I ever want to consume milk it MUST be flavored. Otherwise I won't even look in its direction. And it's same with the tea. It must be spiced up. Anyways I prefer coffee more... And the pretty mugs like you showed may make it tempting lol...

I add lemon, which helps. I tried organic raw honey, but I'm not into sweet things much.
