Sew much fun!

Pardon the pun! I adore sewing, despite not being very good at it. Prior to this past week, I had not been able to sew for close to two years. Honestly, I have little idea as to why. Ten days ago I realized that I truly missed the sound of my sewing machine. So, I did what any modern day girl would do. I joined some sewing groups on Facebook for some inspiration and motivation. And wow did it work. This weekend I made the cutest little trousers for my 14 month old son. They have a wide, deep waistband and cuffs made from ribbing. They are size 1yr-3yr. They should last him a while. I made the trousers from an old t-shirt of my husband. It was the first time in over 20 years that I had sewn with knit, the first time with ribbing and the first time with a three step zig-zag stitch. Now, no clothes that are too small, stained, ripped or damaged will be free from the possibility of being upcycled! Until next time! BellaDoc

@BellaDoc No it's not. I have never been particularly artsy craftsy.

I wish I could sew well! I can repair clothes, but it always looks vulgar and never how I want it to look! Facebook groups are the best for learning new things! I use them all the time to pick up new recipes!

I am battling to hem hankies straight. Sewing for the kids years ago wasn't too exacting but now it just really frustrates me. However I crochet nicely so I hang on to that thought.

They sound very cute, and I love the idea of them being recycled from an old tshirts.

Thanks @Dragonfairy1 I am aware that some people even shop at charity shops for groovy t-shirts they can upcycle like this :)

That would have been so much fun and very satisfying. I used to sew for my boys and enjoyed it but I was mostly pretty hopeless at it.

@BellaDoc Perhaps he's worried you might make him a shirt and he'll have to wear it.

That is nice. I only experienced sewing in class when I was in elementary or is that high school? My late Grandma is very good at sewing.

We had some lessons at high school in Australia, but I prefer to be slow and thorough when it comes to crafts and a fast-paced school classroom is not the best place to learn for everyone.

@BellaDoc We learnt sewing at school too culminating in a simple dress. I'm pretty sure I had a fair bit of help.

I'm sorry that your old friend is no longer working. New machines can offer so much more, however.
