First day back to work in two weeks

Tonight will be my first day back to work in two weeks. I was supposed to go last sunday but the weather was to inclement. I talked to my manager on Friday night and apparently everyone's hours are being cut. Usually the hour cuts come in January but I guess it'slate this year. I really can't even be bothered with it anymore. I'm tired of getting agitated at work. It's not worth stressing over. Tonight I go in and do my pallet jack test and then most likely break down the stuff I am responsible for stocking. I won't work again until next sunday. How is everyone's Sunday going?

My Sunday is fine and of course I no longer have any work concerns because I have retired. I always found it difficult returning to work after a period off.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Such situations can be difficult because it is so easy to get out of a routine and what was simple becomes quite demanding.

My job entails physical labor and I am afraid I've slacked off on exercising my muscles. I am afraid I'll come home very sore in the morning. In my ten years of working life, I've only ever taken one vacation. Of course I've had extended periods of unemployment and going back to a work routine after so much time of not having any job was hard in and of itself.

Our Sunday has been very busy. We traveled to the RV show at the state fairgrounds to look at possible replacements for our pop-up camper.

Did you find anything you could use whilst there?

@DWDavis That is great. are prices generally better at RV shows? We have an RV dealer about an hour or so away from us here.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes we did. We should hear from the dealer Tuesday as to our credit and hopefully will be able to pick up our new home-away-from-home on wheels by the weekend.

I had a good Sunday. My first husband was a trucker and the amount of work would crash right about two weeks before Christmas and stay "depressed" until March or April. I was told by a manager one time that the only store expense that was in his actual control was the hours so they got tight from time to time.

I Wonder how much the trucking industry has changed over the years. I imagine some trucking companies still experience the lulls around that time while others have an increase in volume they transport. I am not sure how much responsibility the manager of the store has in terms of expense. I guess hours are the most logical expense to be very tight on as we can't really do without supplies etc.

Since I am not feeling well today I am just taking it easy and had to sleep for a while until the phone woke me up. To bad the hours are being cut but at least it came a little later this year for you. Do you normally only work on Sundays?

it used to be wednesday, friday, saturday , sunday. I told them I could only work twice per week so it went to wednesday and sunday. Now with the hours being cut it's just sunday. I'm not even going to be bothered with it anymore. I will go in, do my job and go home.

@ScribbledAdNauseum They sure have cut back but since you only wanted to work two days anyway I guess it is not so bad then.

@Marcyaz I know that these cut hours are only temporary. I also know that with them cutting all of the part time people's hours, a few will get fed up and quit. It never fails, we hardly ever keep a full team.

That's got to be frustrating when you want more hours to work, and they just won't or can't give them to you.

There is a lot more to be frustrated about there but as I Said I am tired of beating myself sick over it.

Wow... your hours really were cut! Hopefully it will help you start to feel better, but it may cause other stresses due to lack of money.

@ScribbledAdNauseum That's not too bad. I wish I could survive on 2 days a week! Instead I'm seriously debating a second job so I can get more money!

I already feel better. I am able to get to cleaning tasks that I hadn't been able to get to. Financially I am okay. I asked for two days as I can live off of two days per week and still save. Living here, the only responsibilities I have are my own bills and to contribute to grocery bill.

I usually work just Monday through Friday, but this Saturday I had to come in for a bit in the morning. I did some errands after work then went home and cleaned. I was totally free on Sunday so it was a nice and relaxing day for me.

I always hate it when I have to work a day that I am used to not having to work. It takes a bit to adjust. It's not so bad working third shift but I always hated it when I was working in the public eye.

I haven't been working either the past few days. Not because of the weather, but looking at stuff online to get with my birthday money. My Sunday was ok. I hope to get in the groove of working again this week.

I wish I could earn online like so many others have been able to do. I just do not have the patience.
